To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, I'IOMER PENDLETON, a citizen of the United States, residing at Kokomo, in the county of Howard and State of Indiana, have'invented certain new and useful Improvements in Electricallylllumi-f nated I ountain-lens; andI do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to an illuminated fountain pen, and the primary object of the invention is to provide a fountain pen with an illuminating attachment,- whereby a person-may use the pen in adark place, and
avoid mistakes by illuminating the paper upon which the pen is used.
Another" object of this invention is. to provide a fountain pen as specified,. which' includes an outer retaining casing having a battery positioned therein, electric conductors extending longitudinally through the casing and communicating with a lamp socket, and to position an incandescent bulb in said socket in close proximity to the writing point of the fountain pen, which point has communication with an ink feeding mechanism and retainingtube.
With the foregoing and other objects in view, this invention consists in such novel features of construction, combination and arrangement of parts, as will be hereinafter more fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings, ahd claimed.

The tubes 6 and 7 are preferably constructed of copper, to increase their electrical conductive proclivities.
The tubes 6 and 7-are supported within the casing 1 by a bracket 8, which is secured to the inner surface of the casing in any suitable manner, and which is provided with openings extending therethrough, in and through. which the tubes-6 and 7 extend. The tube 6 extends forwardly longitudinally. within the casing 1, and has its forward end secured to an angle member 9. The angle member 9 is constructed of electric conductmg material and is secured to the casing,
being held against the inner surface of the same by means of a screw or other analogousfasteningdevice 10. The angled'arm 11' of insulating housing 12, and has a head 16 positioned upon its inner end, which head is insulated from the socket 14 by a disk 17 ofinsulation, so that when the plug indi-. cated at 18, of an electrical incandescent light bulb 19 is'inserted into the socket, and
the central electrode of the plug'engages the head 16 of the pin 15, a circuit will be closed through the poles of the battery 3, and
ignite the light 19.
When it is desired to extinguish the light 19, the same is 'rotatedwithin the socket 13 until the central electrode of the plug 18 moves out of engagement with the head 16, Y which breaksthe circuitand extinguishes the lamp. The casing 1 has an ink'retaining tube 20 positioned therein and extending longitudinally thereof, which ink retaining tube has a self-filling mechanism 21, of any desired type associated therewith, for filling The forward end of the tube 20 is positioned toward the forward tapered end 2 of the casing, and it has a pen point 22 connected thereto, and suitable ink feeding mechani m 2 for feeding the ink from the tube 20 to the point of the pen 22,
