and useful Improvements in Sound-.Boxes for lhonographs, of Vwhich the1 following is a description. -r x My invention Yrelates to 'sound boxes and 'more particularly to that part off a sound box which carries the diaphragm andv the stylus. It has heretoforeA been customary to mount the stylus of a recorder in an armor lever disposed at an angle with reference to the diaphragm and secured thereto both at the center'and at the periphery thereof. '.Dhis construction is obj edtionajble in that the' inclined stylus varm acts as a brace and thereby brakes or dampens Vthe vibrations I of the diaphragm.-
It is my object to eliminatethisr objection by securing the stylus arm to the diaphragm memberA 2 and forms a ball vand socketjoint therewith, the upper end of the said tube engagmg the boreof the neck 7 of tle body, as 1s common 1n ldevices of this character.

In a device of theclass described, a diaphragm, a casing therefor formed to permitremoval of the diaphragm Without removal of parts of thecasing, a 'Stylus arm carried by the diaphragm, and a resilient gasket mounted directlyv upon and carried by the diaphragm and engaging the casing, saidgasket constituting the sole means for securlng the ,diaphragm and stylus arm to the casing, substantially as described.
