To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, ERNEST KorrLER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Alameda, in the county of Alameda and State of California, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Games, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to improvements. in games, the principal object being to provide a game, which may be played in a number of ways, which may be used also as a puzzle, and for the same purpose that disks are used.

With these and other objects in view my invention consists in the novel construction, and arrangement of parts herein illustrated and more specifically pointed out in the appended claims.

Reference being had to the accompanying drawing forming a part of this specification, Figure 1 is a view in plan of my improved game. Fig. 2 is a view in side elevation. Fig. 3 is a View in section on the line 33, Fig. 1.

Denoting corresponding parts in the several views by the same numerals of reference, the game consists of the body 1 having the circular end 2, and the rectangular portion 3, which is continued in the handle a. The portions 2 and 3 have a continuous ho1- low cavity 5, which is provided with a cover plate 6 having the outlines of these portions and having a glass window 7 over the portion 8. The body is provided with a pair of legs 8 of equal length and a third leg 9 somewhat shorter than the other two. These legs are arranged in triangular relation and legs 8 are disposed at right angles to the center line of the body so that in this manner the game may rest on these legs and be tilted back and forth and tilted thereon.

Within the rectangular portion 3 are a number of division walls 10, substantially the length of the square portion 3 and extending upwardly to a point adjacent the glass cover thus providing runways in which certain balls 11 are to be placed. In one of the side walls of the rectangular portion 3 is provided a slot 12, the use of which is hereinafter described.

Having thus described the construction of my apparatus, several ways in which it may be used are as follows :-If the game is to be used as a puzzle an endeavor is madeto place the balls, which are normally in the cavity 5, in the spaces between the division walls 10 in some regular order. These balls are provided in three colors and the endeavor would be to place the balls in three 'rows, each row having a separate color. Or,

some other order may be adapted as, for instance, placing all balls of one color in one slot and all others of another color in the neXt and the third color in a third slot. This makes an exceedingly diflicult puzzle owing to the closed condition of the boX and one in which it is hard to cheat.

If the game is to be used in scoring points the preferable method of using it is to tilt it forward until all the balls run down in the recess 5 and then tilt it backward allow ing all the balls to flow into the various slots as they will. Then all balls of the same color, which lie adjacent each other in a vertical or horizontal row, are counted as one point; thus if three red balls lie adjacent each other in a row and three white ones in another row, then six points would be scored. As illustrated 1n Fig. 1, it would be the highest possible number of points, which is 15. In using the game in this manner both balls in the horizontal and vertical rows count so long as there are three or more in one row and they are adjacent each other.

Another method of playing the game is to remove the cover plate 6 and all the balls except one. This ball is placed in the first slot and the small implement inserted through the opening 12 just back of the ball. This implement is then given a sharp upward blow causing the ball to fly to the outer end of the circular recess and fall into one of the other slots. These slots are numbered, as shown in 18, and the slot in which the ball falls scores that many points. Using the game in this manner the device rests on the three legs so that the ball always tends to roll down into one of the slots between the division walls 10.

It will thus be apparent that I have provided a game board having a variety of uses, which is novel and useful in its application, and while I have shown the preferred embodiment of my invention it will'be understood that minor changes may be made in detail and design without departing from the scope of the claims.
