EMMA J. DBEVITS, OF SMOLAN, KANSAS.
COMBINED LAMP-BRACKET AND CAN' DLESTICK.
msacee.
Application filed April 23, 1915. Serial No. 23,480.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, EMMA J. Dnnvrrs, a citizen of the United States, residing at Smolan, of Kansas, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Combined Lamp- Brackets and Candlesticks; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to combined lamp brackets and Candlesticks, and one of the principal objects of the invention is to provide a lamp bracket and candlestick which can be quickly clamped onto a table, a sewing machine, a bed, or other support, and which can be used as a bracket for a lamp or for a candlestick, and which will be provided with a handle so that it can be carried about from place to place.
The foregoing and other objects may be attained by means of the construction illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in which Figure 1 is a view in elevation of a combined lamp bracket and candlestick made in accordance with this invention, and Fig. 2 is a sectional view taken on the line 22 of Fig. 1 and showing a lamp in dotted lines supported in the bracket.
Referring to the drawing, the numeral 1 designates a cup-shaped support or bracket for a lamp, said support having preferably a ring 2 connected to the concave portion 3 by means of supporting members 4. A handle 5 is connected to the bracket at the rear. -A socket for a candle is integrally connected with its central portion 3 of the bracket, said candlestick being indicated by the numeral 6 and having a solid bottom 7 and an open top 8, said candlestick being mounted in the center of the concave portion 3 so that grease from the candle will be caught by the concave surface.
An integral curved bracket member 7 is connected" to the rear side of the candlestick, and at the free end is provided with an enlargement 8 having a screwthreaded bore therein. A clamp screw 9 is mounted in the threaded bore provided with a smooth head 10 to bear in the county of salina and State placed in the of the enlargement 8, and is against the underside of a table, desk, sewing machine or other support, while the outer end of the screw 9 is provided with a milled head 11'.
From the foregoing it will be' obvious that the combined lamp bracket and candlestick may be clamped to the edge of a table, desk, sewing machine or other support, and can be carried about by the handle 5 when disconnected from the table or other support, and that either a lamp may be supported within the ring 2 and resting upon the top of the candlestick 6, or a candle may be socket in lieu of the lamp.
at is claimed is 1. In a device of the character described comprising a cup shaped support, supporting members connected to saidcup shaped support and one of said supporting members being of greater length than the other to form a handle, a ring connected to said supporting members forming a lamp bracket, a candlestick formed in said cup shaped support and extending above and below thereof adapted to receive a candle or support the base of a lamp when a lamp is being supported in the cup shaped sup port and means for attaching the cup shaped support to a stand.
2. In a device of the character described comprising a cup shaped support, supporting members connected to said cup shaped support, a ring connected to said supporting members forming a lamp bracket, a candlestick formed in said cup shaped support and extending above and below thereof, and provided with its upper end opened and its lower end closed by a solid bottom, a curved bracket connbcted to the candlestick adiacent the cupshaped support, said curved bracket provided with an internal screw-threaded aperture in the free end thereof, a clamp screw threaded in said aperture and adapted to clamp a supporting article between the innerend of the clamp screw and the bottom of the candlestick.
In testimony whereof I aflix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
