To all whom it mag concern Be it known that I, GEORGE BoLTz, a citizen of the United States, residing at Amy, in the county of Lane, State of Kansas, have invented certain new and usefulImprovements in Power-Generators; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to a power generator and has particular reference to a generator in which a gaseous mixture of steam, air and hydro-carbon gas is produced, which mixture is adapted to be conducted from the generator to an engine whereby the said engine may be operated.
In carrying out my'invention it is my purpose to provide an apparatus wherein this gaseous mixture may be produced expeditiously and economically.
Vith these and other objects in view, such as will appear as the description progresses my invention comprises the combination and arrangement of parts as set forth in and falling within the scope of the appended claims.

Referring to the drawing wherein like parts are indicated by like characters throughout the several views: my device comprises a cylindrical horizontally disposed air tank A, having a pressure gage a thereon and a substantially cylindrical combustion chamber B which is'inclosed in a water jacket C, which jacket has formedin the upper portion thereof a steam drum D. The device further comprises an oil tank E which is located adjacent the air tank A. r I y In order that air may be compressed in the air chamber A, I have provided a valved pipe 1 which leads to a suitable pump (not shown) and in order that the jacket C may be filled with water, I have provided a Fig. 3 is a vertical sectional valved pipe 2 extending into the jacket adacent its lower end so that water may be forced thereinto. In order that the tank E may be filled with oil, I have provided on the upper side thereof an inlet opening 3.
In order that oil may be injected into the combustion chamber B, I have provided a pipe which extends through the water jacket, into .the combustion chamber and longitudinally thereof. This pipe is, in the combustion chamber, looped back upon itself and terminates at a point 5 from which the oil flows. In order that the oil may be forced from the tank. E through the said pipe 4, I have connected theair chamber A with the oil tank E by means of a valved pipe G'so' that the compressed air in the chamber'A will force the oil through the pipe 4. A second valved air pipe 7 extends from the'air chamber A through the water jacket C and into the combustion chamber B, terminating adjacent the termination of the pipe 4. An additional valved air pipe 8 extends from the chamber A into the steam drum D so that the steammay be forced therefrom through the valved pipe 9 into the combustion chamber B. The said pipe 9 terminates adjacent the ends of the pipes 4 and 7 so that when the device is in operation thejair, oil vapor and steam will be commingled. f
Extending through the water jacket C and intothe chamber B is a pipe 10 having anozzle on the inner end thereof and opens in the portion within the jacket C so that pressure may be applied to the outer end of the pipe to force the water through the noz- Zle on the inner end thereofin a spray.
Extending from the combustion chamber is a pipe 11 leading to the filtering device to be described. Extending downwardly through the combustion chamber is a fire tube 12 adjacent the ends of the pipes 4, 7
and 9 and through which a lighted sponge or the like may be inserted. The tube 12 is controlled by means of a plug' valve 13 seated in a conical seat 14 formed in the tube and actuated by a handle 15 which is pivotally mounted upon the stud 16. This valve is normally held in closed position by means of a coil spring 17 The water jacket is provided with a gage 12 having a drain cook 13 therein.
In order that carbon may be removed from the mixture passing through the pipe 11 I have provided a filtering device F which consists of a small tank 14 which is partially filled with water and into which the pipe 11 extends, said pipe terminating adjacent the bottom of the tank considerably under the surface of the water. The end of this pipe 11 is provided with a plurality of holes so that the mixture will be distributed through the water. This tank is further provided with a drain cock 15 and a water gage l6. Extending from and connected to the upper end of the tank 14 is a pipe 17 which leads to the cylinder of the engine to be operated.
Extending from the water jacket C is a valved pipe 18 which extends into the upper end of the tank 14. WVhen the device is in operation the valve in the pipe 18 is opened slightly and enough hot water allowed to flow from the acket C to the tank 14 to replace the water which is vaporized in this tank.
In operation when it is desired to generate power air is compressed in the chamber A and the valves in the pipes 4, 6 and 7 opened so that the oil is injected in the combustion chamber B. The lighted sponge or the like is pushed downwardly through the fire tube 12 and the oil sprayed from the pipe 4 ignited which produces heat in the combustion chamber and inasmuch as the pipe 4 is looped upon itself in this chamber the heat vaporizes the oil. The valves in the pipes 8 and 9 are then opened and the steam collected in the drum D which is produced by the heat of the burning oil in the chamber B, is injected into the combustion chamber B.' The valve in the air pipe 7 being open the air is injected into the combustion chamber. The air, oil, vapor and steam combine to form a gaseous mixture. The spray is then started from the pipe 10 and upon striking the heated interior of the chamber 13 flashes into steam which commingles with the gaseous mixture described and thus increases the power thereof. This final mixture is conveyed through the pipe 11 in the filtering device F where it is passed through the water in the tank 14 thereof and the carbon thus removed. The heat of the mixture brings the water to a boiling point and generates steam above the water so that the mixture passes up above this water and mixes with the steam above the said water and is conveyed through the pipe 17 to the cylinder of the engine to be operated.
From the foregoing description it will be seen that I have provided a very simple and efficient means for generating power.
Vhile I have illustrated and described a particular embodiment of my invention,
I have merely done so for the sake of con venience and I do not wish to be limited to that particular embodiment as it is obvious that numerous changes may be made within the details of construction thereof without in any way departing from the spirit of the invention or exceeding the scope of the appended claims.
Vhat I claim is 1. In a power generating apparatus, the combination with an air tank, an oil reservoir, and a combustion chamber, of a water jacket encircling the said chamber and having asteam drum on the upper side thereof, a valved pipe connecting said air chamber and said oil reservoir, a valved pipe extending into said oil reservoir and into the combustion chamber, the said pipe being bent back upon itself within the said chamber and open at its inner end, a valved pipe connecting the steam drum and the combustion chamber, a valved pipe connecting the air chamber and steam drum, a valved pipe extending into the combustion chamber and into the air chamber, a pipe extending into the combustion chamber and having communication with the water acket whereby water may be sprayed into the said combus tion chamber.
2. In a power generating apparatus, the combination with an air chamber, an oil tank, and a combustion chamber, of a water jacket encircling said combustion chamber and having a steam drum thereon, means connecting the steam drum and combustion chamber to convey steam thereto, means connecting the oil tank and the combustion chamber to convey oil to the latter, means connecting the air chamber and combustion chamber to convey air into the latter, means connecting the water jacket and combustion chamber to spray water into the latter, and means connecting the air chamber with the steam drum and the oil tank for forcing the steam and oil, respectively, into the combustion chamber.
3. In a power generating apparatus, the combination with an air chamber, of an oil tank, a combustion chamber and a water jacket encircling said combustion chamber and having a steam drum thereon, a pipe extending from the oil tank into the com bustion chamber and having an open end in the latter, a pipe extending from the air chamber into the combustion chamber and having an open end directed toward the open end in the aforementioned pipe and in spaced relation thereto, and a pipe extending from the steam drum into the combustion chamber and having an open end in the latter directed at right angles to the open ends in the aforementioned pipes and directed toward the space between the same.
4. In a power generating apparatus, the combination with a combustion chamber, of
