To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, JUDGE F. BARKER, a citizen of the United States, residing at ll axahachie, in the county of Ellis and State of Texas, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Silos, of which the following is a specification.
My invention has relation to an improve ment in silos of that type or class wherein horizontally arranged boards or panels are arranged to slide vertically between adjacent uprights, the series of uprights forming the standards or supports for the struc-' -beams and separated at their inner portion of their contiguous ends by vertically arranged wedge shaped strips resting at the base of the wedge upon the head of a beam and the sides of the wedge being in sliding contact with the flat ends of adjacent panels.
There is further provided removable blocks recessed to fit on the projecting free web of the beam and having a downwardly and inwardly curved indentation on their outer faces to form seats to receive and retain the tie rods for the structure.
The nature and scope of my invention will be more fully understood from the following description taken in connection with the accompanying drawings forming part hereof, in which,-

2. Each recess is adapted to receive the base of a T beam or upright 3 and to lock the same to said floor 1. The T beams 3 are so disposed that their heads point inward or toward the center of the structure and their stems point outwardly. The beams constitute the supporting corners of a polygonal structure, in the case illustrated in the drawings the polygon is of six sides or hexagonal. The side flanges or webs constituting the head of the beam constitute bearings for superposed, horizontally arranged panels or boards at of substantially rectangular shape, the flat ends of the panels having the channels 5 which are wider than the width of the webs of the beam. The panels 4 are arranged to span the head webs of adjacent beams Sand to have a vertical movement thereon and the contiguous channeled ends of adjacent panels a are separated some distance from each other. The space between adjacent contiguous ends of the panels 4i at the inner portion of the panels beyond the head of a T beam 3 is filled by a wedge shaped strip 6 forming a continuation for the head of the T beam and also closely fitting the fiat contiguous ends of adjacent panels to complete the continuity of the inner wall of the structure. These strips are trapezoidal in cross section, with the base of the trapezoid resting for support upon the head of the T beam and the inclined sides sliding upon the flat channeled ends of adjacent panels to maintain said panels in water and air tight locking engagement with the wedge, and with the Tbeam. The wedges also serve to tighten the sides of the structure when the Tbeams are forced inward against the wedges. The preferred means of so forcing the T beams 3 inward or centrally consists of one or more encircling tie rods 8 in sections united together by turn buckles 9 of well known construction and arrangement. Where a rod 8 crosses the stem of a Tbeam 3 there is preferably interposed between the beam and the tie rod 8, a removable block 9 having inner vertical recess 10 to fit on the stem of T-beam 3 and an outer rounded face having a downwardly and inwardly curved indentation or horizontal recess 11 in which the rod 8 is adapted to be received and retained.
At the corners when the door openings are to be provided, the wedge shaped pieces 6 are replaced by studs or vertical members 12 which are shaped as at 13 to perform a portion of the function of wedges 6 and also are shaped to form jambs as at 14.
