Description
LLLLLLL R.
IIIIIIIIII P,
APPLICA mill/1M To all w wm t may concern Be it known that I, DELPHINE MrLLnR, a citizen of the United States of America, residing at Detroit, in the county of Wayne and State of Michigan, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Drinking-Cups, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawings.
This invention relates to drinking cups, and more particularly to that type of collapsible drinking cups commonly used as part of a lunch set and adapted for carrying in the pocket. v
The objects of my invention are to furnish a collapsible telescopic drinking cup with utensils for preventing accidental collapse of the drinking cup when in use; Second, to provide utensils that can be housed in a collapsed drinking cup convenient for use when the cup is extended, and third, to provide a simple, durable, sanitary and inexpensive receptacle that can be advantageously used by travelers and as part of a lunch set or camp outfit.
The above and other objects are obtained by mechanical construction which will be hereinafter specifically described and then claimed, and reference will now be had to the drawing, wherein- Figure 1 is a side elevation of a drinking cup in an extended or set up position; Fig. 2 is a plan of a drinking cup collapsed with the utensils therein; and Fig. 3 is a cross sectional view of a collapsed drinking cup with a cover applied thereto.
A drinking cup in accordance with my invention comprises a plurality of intermediate telescopic sections 1, a top section 2 and a bottom section 3, all of said sections being made of a light, durable and non-corrodible metal. The sections when extended are adapted to frictionally bind together and form an inverted frusto-conical shell.
The top section 2 is of greater depth than the other sections and the upper or pouring edge of the section 2 is rolled or rounded, as at 4. Contiguous to the lower edge of the section 2 and at diametrically opposed sides are outwardly extending studs or rivets 5 having heads 6.
The bottom section 3 has the lowered edges thereof soldered or otherwise connected to a circular base plate 7 provided with an upstanding peripheral flange 8.
Specication of Letters Patent.
Adjacent to the bottom plate 7 and at diametrically opposed sides ofthe bottom section 3 are outwardly extending studs or rivets 9, similar' to the studs or rivets 5 of the top section 2.
TWhen the telescopic sections are collapsed upon the base plate 7, the top section 2 extends above the intermediate and bottom section, as best shown in Fig. 3, thereby providing a compartment 10 for accommodating utensils 11 and 12. The utensil 11 is in the form of a comparatively fla-t spoon havlng the handle portion 13 thereof provided with a side notch 14. The bowl 15 of the spoon has the tip thereof provided with a notch 16, and the notches 14 and 16 are adapted to receive the studs or rivets 5 and 9 at one side of the drinking cup.
The utensil 12 is in the form of a comparatively flat fork having the handle 17 thereof provided with a side notch 13. The

opposite end of the utensil 12 terminates in tines 19 and the central tine has a notch 20. The notches 18 and 20 are adapted to receive the studs or rivets 5 and 9 at the opposite side of the drinking cup from that held by the utensil 11, as shown in Fig. 1. With these utensils in position it is impossible for the telescopic sections of the cup to accidentally collapse and spill the contents of the cup.
With the utensils within the compartment, 10, as shown in Fig. 3, a cover 21 can be placed over the top section of the cup and in frictional engagement with the flange 8 of the base 7, thereby preventing accidental displacement of the utensils when carried in a pocket.
What 1 claim is A drinking cup comprising collapsible telescopic top, intermediate and bottom sec tions, the top section being of greater depth than the intermediate and bottom sections, a base carried by the bottom section, diametrically opposed studs carried by the bottom section, diametrically opposed studs carried by the top section, implements adapted to be disposed to cross each other in the top section above the collapsed intervmediate and bottom sections, one of said implements having a notch in one end thereof and a side notch in the other end thereof and adapted to be placed in engagement with the studs on one side of said cup to maintain all of said sections extended, the
other implement having a' notch in one end Iny testimony whereof I afix'mysignature tliereo ang adside otclin'llhe opposite end in presence of two Witnesses.
