LUBRICATING SYSTEM.

following is a full, clear, and exact-descrip tion.
This invention relates to a lubricating system, and more particularly to a system of hard grease lubrication for automobiles, and has for its object the provision of a convenient and eflicient means for lubricating, preferably with a hard grease, any particular bearing of any machine with any desired amount of lubricant.
The invention consists of a construction comprising a reservoir which is in communication with-the bearings to be lubricated through the medium of a selective distributer with which is associated indicating devices whereby the operator can selectively and with certainty control the flow of lubricant to the several bearings, as hereinafter particularly pointed out in the claims;'one preferred embodiment of the invention being shown in the accompanying drawings, in which 7 Figure 1 is a view in elevation of the device, there being parts insection. Fig. 2 is a transverse sectional view through the distributing member. Fig. 3 is a plan view of the handle and dial used in conjunction with the distributer.
In Fig. 1 is shown a grease cup 5, which may be fastened to the dash D of the car or other convenient and accessible place. Said cup is internally threaded and provided with a piston 6 exteriorly threaded to engage the thread of the cup 5. A stem 7 is secured to the piston 6 and extends through a packing gland 8 and is provided with a manipulating handle 9. A tube 1.0 is. connected to the cup 5 and to a distributer 11 located at a point central of the car and under the fioor thereof, said distributer consisting of a cylindrical body portion 12 fitted with a removable top 13, which is screw threaded thereinto. A revoluble plug 14 is fitted to the bore of the body portion 12 and is provided with an arcuate passage 15, one end of said passage being at all times in communication with the tube 10, and the other end of said passage adapted to register withany one of a series of o enings 16 formed in the body of the distri uter, each opening being provided with a nipple 17 for the attachment of a tube 18 for conducting the lubricant to the bearing. The plug 14 is provided with a stem 20, which passes through the cup 13, is then extended through the floor F of the car and-is provided with a handle 21. A dial 22 is arranged beneath the handle 21 and thedesignations 23 thereon correspond with the openings 16 inlthe distributer. As the operative handle 21 is arranged in vertical alinement with the opening 15 in the plug, it is evident that when the handle is moved directly over one of the'marks on the dial, the opening 15 will be in register with 18 and a free passage will be obtained between the grease cup 5 and the particular bearing it is desired to lubricate. By manipulating the handle 9, lubricant will be forced from the cup 5 through the conduit 10, distributer 11 selected opening 16 to the bearing.
Although the preferred embodiment of the invention is shown, it is to be understood that slight changes may be made in the device Without departing from the spirit or sacrificing any of the advantages of the invention.

In a lubricating system, a force feed reservoir, a selective distributer provided with a plurality of outlets, a revoluble member provided With a passage adapted to be brought into register with any of said outlets, a feeding connection between the reservoir and said passage, an operating device revoluble with and on the axisof said memher, a dial arranged concentric with the axis of said member and cooperating with said device-to indicate the outlet brought into register with the passage, and flexible feeding connections from said outlets to the bearings to be lubricated.

In a lubricating system, a force feed reservoir, a selective distributer vprovided with a plurality of outlets and acentral bore, a revoluble plug mounted in said bore and provided with an arcuate passage, said passage adapted to be brought into register with any one oi said outlets,.an operating handle for said plug, a dial cooperating -with said handle to indicate the outlet brought into register with the supply, a
feeding connection between the reservo1r and the'distributer and a flexible feeding conmotion between the reservoir and the hearing to be lubricated.
4. In a lubricating system, the combina- I tion with the floor board, of a cylindrically shaped distributer applied underneath the same and provided with a-row of holes arranged about its periphery and a central orierating with the indicator, and feeding con- I nections from said holes to the bearings to be lubricated.
