To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ARMAND LYNNE PASCHALL, a citizen of the United States, residing at Springfield, in the;county of Clark and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in'Rotary Beaters and Separators, of which the following is a specification. s

A further object is to so mount and support the revoluble screen cylinder and revoluble beater shaft as to permit the removal 1 of certain of the parts without disturbing so arranged that a portion thereof may be" the bearings, which in the present case are shown as ball bearings.

As shown in detail in Fig. 5 the meeting edges of the screen sections are bent at right angles to the main portion and clamped between the longitudinally extending bars, which are formed in pairs, 7 and 8 constituting one pair and 9 and 10 the other. Each bar is of angle form and the respective members in each. pair are placed back to back and bolted Jogether with the screen sections between .the same. As shown in Fig. 5 a space-will thus be formed between the screen sections and the longitudinal bars equal to the thickness of the divided rings so as to providepockets 13, 1 1, and 16. The shaft 23 has a finished portion 30 which .larged bore 34 of the bearing member and out the forward end of the same. Fitted in the space between the enlarged bore 34 and the portion 32 of the shaft is a ball bearing of conventional form consisting of the races or rings 35 and 36 and balls 37 the ring 36 having a tight running fit with the shaft, but the ring 35 being inserted more or less loosely in the bore 34 of the housing. Inscrted into the enlarged bore of the housing member is a thrust collar or ring 38 which serves to take the thrust of the beater shaft through the ring 35; this collar or ring 38 having a flange 38" on its outer end which is bolted to the flanges 39 on the outer ends of the bearing members. A driving pulley 40 is secured to the extreme outer end of the reduced portion 33 of the shaft, being held in position thereon by the Washer or collar 41 and bolt 42, and between the hub of the pulley and the inner ring or race 36 is inserted a sleeve 43, this sleeve serving to retain the'ball bearings in position and also to prevent endwise movement of the pulley.
The support 2 at the opposite end of the cylinder has an opening 44 about which is secured a divided housing 45 constructed in all respects like the housing at the opp0- site end of the cylinder in that it has circular flanges at its inner end which are secured to the support 2 and circular flanges at its outer end to which is bolted a cap 46 which serves to close the open end of the housing. The shaft at that end of the cylinder is reduced and between this reduced portion of the shaft and the bore of the housing are inserted ball bearings composed of rings 47 and 48 and balls 49. The ring 47 is more or less loosely fitted to the bore of the housing, the ring 48 has a running fit to the shaft. A washer or collar 50 secured to the end of the shaft by the nut 51, serves to hold the,

As a result of this construction it will be seen that it is a simple matter to obtain ac- This is accomplished by removing the bolts which connect the members of each pair of longitudinally extending bars 7, 8, 9 and 10 and then removing one section of the screen out through the top of the machine, this being permitted by reason of the fact that one section of the ring 3 is disconnected from the gearl and that one section of the ring 6 is disconnected from thebearing ring- 20. It will be seen that in the event access is de-' sired to the ball bearings at either end of the shaft 23, this can be readily had by disconnecting the housing from its support and further. disconnecting either the thrust ring 38 or cap 46, as the case may be, from the housing, the housing being then readily removed sidewise.
In addition to this, if it is desired to secure access to the end of the cylinder, this may be accomplished by further removing the pulley and thrust ring at the left hand end of the cylinder so that the cap 1 may be removed over the bearings without in any way disturbing them in their relation to the shaft.
Having thus described my invention, I claim L'In a machine of the character described, a cylinder, stationary end supports for said cylinder, said end supports having openings, a revoluble shaft extending through said cylinder and openings, divided housings connected to said supports about said openings capable of being separated laterally, and anti-friction bearings between said shaft and housing.

In a machine of the character described, a cylinder, stationary end supports for said cylinder, a revoluble shaft extend ing through said cylinder, one of said end supports having an opening through which said shaft extends, a divided housing removably connected to said support about said openings, anti friction devices between said shaft and housing but detachable from said housing, and a removable thrust collar connected with said housing and extending into the same.

In a machine of the character described, a cylinder, stationary end supports for said cylinder, a revoluble shaft extending through said cylinder and one of said end supports, a divided housing removably attached to said end support, anti-friction bearings having two races, one of which has a running fit to said shaft and the other a loose fit in said divided housing, and means for removably connecting said housing members to 3
