IMPROVEMENT iN RULERS.
Speeiea-tion forming part of. Letters Patent No. 118,226, dated August 22, 1871.
To all whom t may concern:
Be it known thnlt I, LOUIS FEUSIER, Jr., of VirginiaI City, county or' Storey, Stute or' Neva-de, have invented ein Improved Blotting-Ruler; 1nd I do hereby deelztre the following' deseription and neeompnnying drawing are sufficient to ena-ble any person skilled in the art or seienee to which it most nearly nippertnins to make and use my said invention or improvements without further invention or experiment.
The object of my invention is to provide n pai-- per-ruler which is so constructed the-t one side of it een be covered with n blotting-pad for the purpose ot' talking up the surplus ink while ruling, end thus prevent blotting the paper and spoiling' the lines.
In order to more fully illustrate and explain my invention, reference is had to the aeeompztnying` drawing; forming n p21-rt of this speeiiieation in which A represents nl ruler of the ordinaryT Width and thickness. The under edges of the ruler are bev eled oi' `in the usuel manner7 and longitudinal channels b b ere mnde et ezteh edge parallel with the top of the ruler. A strip of blotting-pad, 0, has its opposite edges folded down, ns shown. One of these folded edges is then inserted in the ehztnnel et one side tand the pad lztid smoothly upon the under side of the ruler. The opposite edge is then inserted in the ehnnnel in the opposite edge of the ruler, thus providing;` it with :t blotting under side.
