IMPROVEMENT IN FAUCETS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 117,866, dated'August 8, 1871.
To all whom it may concern.'
Be it known that I, WILLIAM CLEVELAND, of Orange, in the county of Essex and State of N eW Jersey, have invented certain Improvements in Faucets, of which the following is a specification:
This invention relates to an improvement upon the patent granted to me September 25, 1860; and consists in forming the shank of the faucet with an opening into Which is inserted one end of a spring, the other end passing through an opening formed in the bulb of the faucet and entering' an annular groove -in the body of the key, as will hereinafter more fully be set forth.
The spring' ce is made of brass or other suitable metal, substai'ltially as shown in the drawing. A slot is cut in the bottom of the faucet, as shown at a', into which one end of the spring a is inserted, the other end of said spring being inserted into a slot or groove in the plug or key b, as shown at o, and when the Whole is properly constructed and adjusted the key bis held securely in its place, and by passing the spring through the slot in the faucet-bulb the same is prevented from turning With the key.
This device is simple, durable, and cheap.
What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The shank of the faucet formed With theslot w, in combination with the bent spring a and annular groove ofthe key b, the Whole constructed and operating as described.
