The tray 15 preferably consists of a boxlike structure and defines what may be termed a cooling chamber inasmuch as the tray is adapted to receive ice or any other suitable cooling medium to maintain the contents of the carrier at a proper temperature. The bottom of. the tray is pro- I vided with anoutlet opening for the discharge of liquid, such as melted ice water or the like, .the opening being closed by means of a suitable plug 16. -Positioned upon the tray is a nest frame 17 to'maintain the bottles in an upright position within the tray, as will be readily understood. Each of the sections is provided with a handle 21 to facilitate their insertion within or removal from the carrier when desiredfi It is of course to be understood that the carrier may be used with or without the nest frame 17, and if desired when the nest frame is employed only one of the cover sections may be usedyhowever, the use of'these different members either singly or in combination will depend upon the discretion of the user of the device.

When vending soft drinks or the like in glasses, I make use of a bracket indicated at 22 having a cone-shaped reduced lower portion 23 adapted to be received within the cone-shaped members 20, the brackets 22 at their point of juncture with the coneshaped member 23 defines a shoulder 24 adapted to bear upon the upper surface of the plate sections whereby the brackets and glasses received thereby are rigidly supported within the carrier.

Connecting the parallel side members of the upper frame 5 of the receptacle is a.

transverse bar 25 disposed centrally. of the receptacle and provided at its opposite ends with depending lugs 26 arranged against the inner surface of the said parallel side members and secured thereto in any suitable manner preferably by means of the thumb screws 27. Secured to the top of the bar 25 is a suitable handle 28 for carrying the receptacle from place to place, while horizontally secured to the opposite longitudinal edges of the bar 25 are cover sections 29.

lid sections 29 are one or ;more loops 30 which receive one end of a rod 31, the latter having its intermediate portion coiled about a pin 32projecting laterally from the handle 28, thus providing a hinge for the said lid sections. The rod 30 is extended from the last convolution of the coil upwardly to provide an operating lever 33 which is disposed in close proximity to the handle 28, so that the lid may be readily and easily elevated to opened position by the hand grasping the handle 28. As shown there is one of these operating levers for each of the cover sections, and which levers are disposed at the opposite sides of the handle 28. Each of the cover sections adjacent its side opposite that connectedwith the operating lever has secured thereto one end of a relatively short rod 34, while the opposite end of the rod is coiled about the pins 32 constituting a hinge for the lid section at the opposite side of the handle 28.

By reason of the specific disposition of the lever 33 with relation to the handle 28, it will be manifest that either of the levers 33 can be manipulatedby the hand grasping the handle 28 to elevate the cover sections 29, thereby permitting use of the other hand for the dispensing of the contents of the carrier. In addition to providing a carrier which may be conveniently handled for the purpose intended, I provide a device wherein the articles are maintained at an even temperature, for an indefi nite period, which is a matter of vital importance with perishable merchandise such as ice cream or the like.

- It is believed that from the foregoing de-- scription the nature and advantages of the invention 1 will be thoroughly understood without requiring a more extended explanation and therefore the same has been omitted. However I desire to have it understood that I do not limit myself to the precise construction and arrangement of parts herein shown and described, as the same is merely illustrative of one embodiment of the invention and various changes may be resorted to when desired as fall within the scope of the appended claims.

What is claimed is 1. A carrier of the class described comprising a receptacle having a cooling compartment, and a compartment for the articles to be vended, a bin ed cover closing said receptacle, a handle or said receptacle and a lever for operating said cover and disposed in close proximity to said handle.

2. A carrierof the class described comprising a receptacle, a tray removably arranged upon the bottom thereof and defining a cooling chamber, a perforated plate constituting a. cover for said tray, coneshaped members depending from said plate in alinement with the openings therein for the reception of the articles to be vended, a cover for said receptacle, and a handle for said receptacle.

3. A carrier of the class described comprising a receptacle, a perforated partition walls, a tray removably positioned upon the bottom of said rl eceptacle and defining a cooling chamber, a perforated plate covering sald tray, coneeshaped members depending therefrom in alinement with. the openings therein, a hinged cover'for said recep' tacle, a handle for said receptacle, and a lever for elevating said hinged cover and disposed in close proximity to said handle.

6. A carrier of the class described comprising a receptacle, a tray removably posiincluding perforated plate sections, coneshaped members depending from said sections in alinement with said 0 enings there in and projecting through sald nest frame, and a coverfor said receptacle.
