Memo
[HE COLUMBIA PLANOORAPH CI).I WASHINGTON, D- C.
HENRY G. WINEBRENNER, OF BALTIMORE, MARYLAND.
IBILLIARD-CUE.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed October 14, 1915. Serial No. 55,758.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HENRY C. WINEBREN- NER, a citizen of the United States of America, and resident of Baltimore, Maryland, have invented certain Improvements in Billiard-Cues. of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to improved mean for securing the tip to the handle of a cue, as will hereinafter fully appear.
In the further description of the said invention which follows, reference is made to the accompanying drawing, forming a part hereof, and in which Figure l is an exterior side view of the end of a billiard cue provided with my invention, and Fig. 2 a central longitudinal section of the same without the handle. Fig. 3 is an exterior side View of the tip and certain of the fastening devices. The handle of the cue is shown in broken lines.
Referring now to the drawing, 1 represents the handle ofthe cue, and 2 the tip which as usual in cues, is formed of some slightly compressible material, such for instance as leather.
3 is a ferrule, the head a of which is made considerably thicker than its cylindrical wall, and provided with a central threaded hole I).
face of the plate, a pocket e in which is inserted the tip 2. The fastening of the tip in the pocket e is effected by closing the edge of the flange d upon the compressible tip 2 as shown in the drawing.
I claim as my invention:
In combination with the handle of a bilhard one and its compressible tip, means to connect them which consists of a ferrule for the handle having a head with a central threaded hole therein, a circular plate with a cylindrical threaded pin adapted to be Patented Mar. 28, 1916. i
screwed into the said hole and having an annular flange the edge of which is crimped inward to grasp the tip and form a circular indentation therein and thereby hold the tip closely in contact with the said circular plate.
HENRY C. WINEBRENNER.
