To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, WILLIAM M. Anna BACHER, a citizen of the United States, residing 'at Minneapolis, in the county of Hennepin and State of -Minnesota, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in TankJEquipped Doors for Automobiles; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

The invention is adapted to be applied to any or all of the doors of the automobile, resides in utilizing the front door on-the drivers side, as a tank, and in making the said door vertically removable from the vehicle body so that the water may be poured therefrom into the 7 water cooling system of the engine.

Referring first to the construction illustrated in Figs. 1 and 2, the numeral 1 indicates a portion of the side of the automobile body, and the numeral 2 indicates the side door which is vertically removable therefrom and is provided with a reduced marginal portion 3 that fits a correspondingly formed channel 4 formed in the body wall 1. and it is preferably made in the form of a sheet metal shell, and at a convenient point at or near its top, is provided with a threaded filling sleeve 6 that is adapted to be tightly closed by a threaded stopper or plug Preferably, the sleeve 6 is located on the inner side of the door 2 near one upper corner thereof. This tank-like door 2 is adapted to be filled with water, or other liquid, while it is in working position, or it may be removed for the purpose of filling. It is adapted to be removed and inverted for the purpose of pouring the water therefrom into the cooling system of the engine; or, if used to contain gasolene, may be used in a similar and obvious manner.
en applying the invention to one of the hinged doors, either front or rear, of the automobile, as illustrated in Figs. 3, 4 and 5, the said door 8 is preferably made hollow and open at the top closely fitting removable interior or lining door. This tank 9 also should have a filling sleeve 11 and cooperating plug 12 located near the upper portion of one end thereof.
These tank-like doors are especially adapted for use in carrying water, gasolene, or lubricating oil, but may, of course, be used for carrying any other liquid. :Where several of the doors of the automobile are more thereof may be used to carry water and another to carry gasolene. The utilization of these doors as carrying tanks does not 1n any way detract from the appearance of the machine end takes up no space, whatever, which is useful for any other purpose.

The combination with an automobile door in the form of a shell open at its top, of a carrying tank seated within and filling the interior cavity of the said door but removable therefrom, the said tank having" a top plate thatnormilly closes the top of the 001'.
