IMPROVEMENT IN SCHOOL-DESKS.

My invention has relation to school-desks; and consists in a novel construction and arrangement of the book-holding case and folding leaf, as hereinafter particularly described.

The guide-pin a is arranged upon the side of the leaf, and adapted to move up and down in the slot E in such manner that, when it reaches the lower extremity of said slot, the
upper side of the leaf is folded closely against the front side of the book-case and serves as a closed door therefor. I usually put a lock upon said leaf and a staple upon said case for purposes of security.
Desks arranged as herein described are found to be of great value in schools Where gymnastic exercises are taught, for the reason that the leaf may be easily and readily folded against the book-case out ofthe Way. They are also serviceable in oflices for lawyers, doctors, clergymen, students, and other literary personages.
I am aware that it is not'new to attach a bookcase to a writillgdesk, and that foldingleaves for such desks are not my invention. I do not, therefore, claim either of said devices, broadly.
What I claim as my invention is- The school-desk herein described, havingframe A, leaf C, arm D, slot E, pin a, and" book-case G, constructed and arranged substantially as specied.
