lBe it known that I, HARRY KONERMAN, a citizen ofthe United States of America, and resident of Cincinnati, county of Hamilton, State of ho, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Measured- Delivery Autographic Registers, of which the following is a specification. i
This invention relates to improvements in autographic registers and particularly to autographic re `sters of the measured delivery manifol ing type in which means such as disclosed in United States Letters Patent 1166996, granted to me 'on January 4, 1916, are employed for alining the record sheets thereof. In registers of thistype the sheets are drawn from between the in' terleaved carbon sheets .by means of a sliding carriage, to the end ofthe travel of the carriage Each record sheet has printed upon it a tabulated form and hence it is desirable that the form` upon each sheet shall register with that upon adjacentA Heretofore, in using autographic registers of this type the sheets have become disalined' and out of adjustment to such an extent during the operation of the regisv ter, that the corresponding spaces ofthe printed forms on the several superimposed sheets would not properlyy register. This disalinement is caused by warpage or buckling of the 'several sheets as set forth in the specification ofthe above mentioned patent, and for this reason the stationary alining pins forming the subject matter of the invention disclosed in the above-mentioned patent, were provided, apertures being formed inthe superimposed sheets for,v -causing the sheets to become properly allned when they were brought into position over the pins.

In order to overcome these objections I have' devised the mechanism described' in the following specification, in which an object is to provide means for adjusting the stationary pins transversely of the register for the purpose of bringing the pins .into` alinement with the general directrix of the centers of the apertures of the superimposed sheets, so that the pins may operate as efeiently to aline the sheets transversely under such conditions as are presented when the sheet web is slitted improperly as above set forth, as when the pins operate to adjust the sheets longitudinally. This and other ob'ects are attained in the device described 1n the following @specification and illustrated inthe draw ings in which:

va reciprocating carriage 6 provided with a clamp 7 adapted to draw the record sheets The carriage 6 is reciprocally mounted on a table 8 provided with guides 9 and 10 on which the carriage travels. , The rods arev operated to move`verticallyto bring thev4 sheets into register with the pins dependingffrom the table. spring 21 is provided for normally retaining the arms 17 and 18 and consequently the pins 16 and plate 15 in their lifted. positions. Secured tothe projecting end .of theshaft19 is an externally located arm 22', the end of which is pivotally connected with the swinging lever 27 having its opposite end pivotally mounted on a pin 28 secured in depending lugs29 of the table-8. A series of inclined vlugs 30 are provided on the lever 27 so that as'the carriage is brought back to its normal `position, a plvotally mounted pawl 31 pro- -vided on the carriage 6, will pass over the inclined lugs 30 and cause the lever and conse-y qnently the plate 15 to be given a serles of rapid ilpward and downward movements which positivelyaline the sheets by bringing I `their apertures over the pins. This mechasheets from the pins upon return of the carriage to its normal position. At one side of the plate a depending lug 35 is formed, the lug being. provided lwith a` screw ythreaded aperture in lwhich an adjustment screw 36 is located, the screw being rota*- V tively mounted in a depending lug .37
formed on the table 8. By means oiv this adjustment screw 36 the plate bearing the pins may be moved transversely of the table 8 and thus cause the alining pins 12 and 13 securedthereto, to move transversely of thel 4slots 38 formed in the table 8 and the slots 39 formed in the vertically movable alining plate 15. This is -for the purpose of bringing the pins to register with the apertures of the sheets should the sheet web have been slitted so that the aperturesl are located to one Side or the other of thelr correct positions in the sheets.
By this means I am enabled to maintain the advantages attained by the vertically stationary alining pins disclosed in my above mentioned patent, and at the same time provide means for bringing the`pin`s into regster with the apertures'o'the sheets so that the edges of the apertures will. not be torn in trying to force the sheets over the pins, as would occur whenimprop'er slitting of Vthe sheet web has caused the apertures to have been misplaced therein.
Having thus described my invention, what Iclaim is: i A
1. A manifolding autographic register adapted for use with record sheets having a series of apertures, comprising a frame, a
' table mounted on the frame, a pin vertically stationary with relation to the table and extending above the table, means mounting the pin and adapted to adjust the pin in directions at lright angles to its axis, and means adapted to move the. sheets to engage the apertures with .the pin.
2. In a manifolding autographic register adapted for use with form prmted record sheets having a series of apertures, a frame having a sheet supporting table mounted thereon, a pin extending above the table and vertically stationary therewith, means mounting the pin and adapted to adjust it in directions at right angles toits axis, and means adapted to'move the sheets to engage the apertures with the pin whereby the forms on, the sheets will be'alined.

In an autographic register adapted for use with record sheets 'having apertures formed therein, the combination of a frame adapted lto support the record sheets, 'a vertically extending pin projecting above the top of the frame and stationary therewith in the direction of its axis, a plate mounting the pin and movable-in a horizontal plane,
Vmeans for adjustably positioning the plate with relation to theframe, a carriage movably mounted on the frame and adapted to move .the record sheets across the pin to bring the apertures in alinement therewith, mechanism adapted to engage the apertures with the pin, means adapted to remove theV sheets from the pin to permit subsequent delivery of the sheets, and a device adapted to maintain the sheets in alinement after they have been removed by said means from the pin. In combination in a manifolding autographic register adapted for use with record sheets having apertures formed therein, a frame adapted to support the record sheets, a pin extending above the frame and stationary in a direction parallel with its axis, a plate reciprocally mounted on the frame and movable inrelation therewith in a dipin, an adjustment means operatively con; nected with the plate, a carriagemovably mounted'on the frame and adapted to move the record sheets across the pin to .bring the apertures in alinement therewith, mecha' nism adapted to engage the apertures with thepm andy operatively connected with the carriage whereby the apertures will `be engaged with the pin after the sheets and the pin have been moved into alinement with one another.
7. An autographic register adapted for use with record sheets having apertures formed therein, comprising a frame adapted to support the record sheets, aplate mov- 'ably mounted on the frame for reciprocation in a substantially horizontal plane, a pin secured to the plate and extending above the frame, a carriage movably mounted on the frame and adapted to move the record sheets across the pin to bring the apertures in register therewith, mechanism` adapted to engage the apertures with the pin and operatively connected with the carriage to engage the sheets with the pin otter the apertures have been brought into register therewith, means adapted to remove thel sheets from the pin when Ithe carriage 1s returned to its normal position, and a device adapted to maintain the sheets in their al-ined positions after removal thereof from the pin.

In an autographic register adapted for usel with record sheets having apertures formed therein, the combination of a frame adapted to support the record sheets, a plate reciprocally mounted on the frame for movement in a substantially horizontal plane, a pin mounted on the plate with its axis extending in a direction substantially vertical therewith, means for adjusting the position of the plate with relation to the frame, mechanism adapted to engage the apertures with the pin and operatively connec'tedv with the carriage to engage the sheets with the pin after the apertures have been'brught into register therewith, means adapted to remove the sheets from the pin when the carriage is returned to its normal position, and a device adapted to maintain the sheets in their alined positions after removal thereof from the pin.
9. In combination in an autographic register adapted for use with record sheets having apertures formed therein, a frame adapted to support the record sheets, a plate movably mounted on the frame toreclprocate in a direction substantially horizontal thereto, a pin mounted on the plate with its axis extending substantially vertical therewith, means for adjusting the plate with relation to the frame, a carriage movably mounted on the frame and adapted to move the record sheets across the pin to bring the apertures into registration therewith,
