' a specification.
This invention relates to certain new and useful improvements in combined shaving brush and soap holder, and the primaryobject of the invention is to provide a soap holder which can be repeatedly used with fresh sticks of soap or tubes of soap paste or cream upon the soap stick or tube being exhausted.
It is well known that every shaving stick requires a new holder, the present invention having for its purpose the provision of a holder which can be repeatedly used with sticks or tubes of soap which latter are to be manufactured so as to be interchangeably used with the holder, thus not requiring a new holder for each stick.
Further, the invention aims to provide a holder which completely houses the stick or tube thus not only preventing be two from becoming separated; but also acting: as a sanitary means for protecting the stick from they collection thereon of dust or other objectionable foreign matter.
In the drawings: Figure 1 is a side elevation of the invention, partly in section; Fig. 2 is a top plan view of Fig. 1; and Fig. 3 is an elevation partly broken away and in section of a collapsible tube for containing soap paste or cream.
In proceeding in accordance with the present invention. a hollow handle or casing l is provided which is threaded at its upper end to receive the threaded end 2 of a brush holder A. The brush holder A is provided with an annular, dished rim 3 which is for the purpose of catching and retaining the drippings "from the brush bristles 4. to thereby prevent the drippings from flowing over the periphery of the handle and upon the hands of the user. A protective casing is provided and fitt ed to the outer end 6 of the brush holder, the casing being used for the purpose of protecting the brush and keeping it clean and sanitary.
To the lower portion of the casing 1 a holder 7 for the tube or stick is threadcdly connected, and is provided with an inwardly extending annular stop flange 8. The lower end 9 of the holder 7 is interiorly threaded to receive a plug or closure 10 which latter has a knurled portion 12. A knurled portion 11 is also provided on the holder 7.
The shaving sticks 13 are provided with annular base portions ll which are adapted to fit within the holder 7 and impinge against the annular stop flange 8, the sticks being held in place and supported by the plug 10 which is rotated to engage the base 1 1 of the stick so as to hold the latter between the flange and the bottom 15 of the-- plug.
By means of the above, a shaving stick may be held and can be used by unscrewing the holder 7 from the handle 1 and applied in the ordinary way that all shaving sticks are now used. If the user desires or prefers to use cream, he can employ a collapsible tube 16 having a shoulder portion 17 formed on its base, instead of the stick.
The magazine 16 is provided with a closure cap 18 to permit the insertion and eX- pulsion of the cream.
It will be noted that the brush holder can be kept in stock by the'dealer and sold separately from that of the soap stick or tube which contains cream, and if a customer desires one or the other it can be furnished and either held in the device in the manner described.
In using the device the knurled portion 11 is grasped so as to disengage the soap holder from the handle or casing 1. The holder not only provides a convenient hand grip for the user but in addition provides a support for the soap in cases where it is desired to hold the latter in a vertical position, and means for combining a brush and shaving stick or the like in a sanitary and compact form especially for traveling use.
lVhat is claimed is:
1. In combination with a hollow container threaded at one end, a soap holder threaded into the container and provided with an inwardly extending stop flange, a soap medium projecting through the flange of the holder and having a base flange adapted to seat on the stop flange of the holder to retain the soap medium against displacement, and a plug threaded into the soap holder for seating the base flange of" the soap medium on the stop flange of the soap holder by sliding movement;
"3. In combination, a hollow container, a soap holder removably engaged with one end of the container and composed of a body nnd'a clamping plug engaged in the threaded portion of tlin holder for sliding the flange of the soap medium into engagement 15 with -{he flange of the holder for clamping ihe soap medium in position. a
