UNITED STATES PATENT orrron.
JOHN SZOTAK, F ELIZABETH, NEW JERSEY.
HEATER FOR CURLING-IRONS.
. Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Feb. 22, 191
Application filed January 28, 1915. Serial No. 4,887.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JOHN SzoTAK, a subject of the King of Hungary, residing at Elizabeth, in the county of Hudson and 5 State of New Jersey, have invented new and useful Improvements in Heaters for Curling-Irons, of which the the following is a specification.
This invention relates to heaters for curling irons and has as its principal object to provide a device by means of which curling irons may be heated without the possibility of causing a conflagration. Contrary to electric hair curlers, serving the same purpose, my device is cheap, can be used at any place where there is no electric current and is not liable to overheat the irons as. s often p the case with electric curlers.
A further object of my device is to heat the curling irons constantly during their use.
With the foregoing and other objects in 'view, my device consists substantially of a bowl partly filled with a thermal substance adapted to develop intense heat on the addition of water to it and of means for attaching said bowl to the dilferentforms of curling{ irons. eference will now be had to the accompanying drawings, in which:
Figure 1 is a perspective view, Fig. 2 a vertical cross-section on anenlarged scale, Figs. 3, 5, 7 and 10 plan views, Figs. 4, 6, 8 and 11 vertical cross sections partly-on an enlarged scale of my device applied to the various forms of curling irons in present use. Figs. 9 and 12 are side elevational views of my device detached from the curling irons shown in Figs. 7 and 10 respectively. I
Referring to the drawings, 1 designate the bowl before mentioned, by a, a hole made in the bowl, through which water may be poured in, by b, the thermal substance mentioned, by c, the solid rod shaped tongues of the curling irons by d,'the sheet metal members of the curling irons by e, and the attaching members of. my device by f. Of
course the shape of the bowl 'of my device to adapt itself to the shape of the curling.
iron except at the part where the hole I) is made therein, where the top. of the bowl a is fiat. It will also be seen from Figs. 11 and 12 that the hole 6 is closed, during the use of my device, by a stopper Fig. 12 shows the particular shape of my device used in connection with bow shaped curling irons.
It'will be understood that'while I have thus shown and described a few forms of the embodiment of my invention adapted to be used in connection with curling irons of known construction, the shape of the bowl and the methods of attaching same may still further be varied.
I claim: J A heater for curling irons comprising a bowl partly filled with a termal substance adapted to develop intense heat upon the application of water, two tubular projections formed on top of said bowl, the top of said bowl being so shaped as to closely fit the undulated tongue of a curling iron when said tubular projections are inserted into cylindrically bent flanges of said undulated tongue, and means forv the admission of water to said bowl, said means being adapted to be closed by a stopper. 1 J OHN SZOTAK'.
