IMPROVEMENT IN BLACKSMITHS TUYERES.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JOHN BAUER, of Brooklyn,
v E. D., county of Kings, State of New York, have struct a tuyere-iron Of two parts, one of which is to remain fixed, while the other one can be removed for the purpose Oi cleaning the apparatus Without disturbing the whole. 2d, to prevent all leakage of wind, and force every particle of blast into the fire.
A is a round cast-iron case tted with atapering tubeat the side which connects with the blowing apparatus. This case is rinly embedded and permanently fixed in the floor of the fOrge-ire.
B is a cast-iron box conforming' with the interior shape of the case A, but somewhat smaller, so as tO leave a narrow space all round between the box B and the outer case A, which space is marked in the drawing by e. The box B is held in place by two projections, ff, cast onto the upper edge of the said box B, which lit in corresponding recesses at the interior Of the case A. The top of the box B and case A form a concave surface of the usual shape of a tuyereiron. The blast enters through the tube O and escapes partly through the space e, partly passes through an aperture, g, into the interior Of the box B, and there escapes through holes d d in the topof the said box.
I claim as my invention- A tuyere-iron, consisting of an outer case, A, and an inner box, B, constructed substantially as and for the purpose herein set forth.
