WINDOW-BEAD FASTENER.

To all 'whom t may concern:

Be it known that I, GEORGE and a resident of Huntington, county of l Cabell, State of /Vest Virginia, have invented certain new and useful Improve- Y ments in lVindow-Bead Fasteners, of which the following is a full and clear specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, in which Figure l is a vertical lsectional view through the sill of a window-frame showing my device in front elevation; Fig. 2 a vertical sectional view of a part of a window-frame and bead showing my device Vapplied thereto, said section being taken on the line 2-2 of Fig. l; Fig. 3 a horizontal section on the line 3-3 of Fig. l; Fig. 4 a detail perspective view of the locking hook and its housing; and Fig. 5 a detail perspective view of the latch plate on thewindowframe.

The object of this invention is to provide a simple device for removably locking the window bead in place, and it consists of. certain novel features of construction hereinafter described and claimed.

In the drawing, L designates a tubular housing fitted in a vertical slot in the bead, a sharpened hook being formeel integral at each end of the housing at itsouter edge and in position to be forced into the bead when the housing is fitted into the slot therein, to thereby'anchoi' the housing in the slot. Both the inner and outer sides ot the housing a are open, and adaptedto ver-` tically slide in the housing is a downwardlyturned hook c which projects beyond the inner edge of the housing and is provided on "its outer edge with a projection fl .which slides within the housing. To re- 1 move the bead, it is simply necessary to insert the finger or a nail or other tool into the outer -part of the housing a and pull up on the nger lug d; ln this way, the hook will be raised far enough'to enable its depending beveled finger to be withdrawn through the slot y' of the latch plate.

An advantage in terminating the linger lug l within the housing a is that accidental unlatching of the hook in manipulating the window sash or cleaning the window frame is Vthereby prevented. This location of the finger lug will be advantageous also in that it `avoids interference with the painting of the window frame. Y

Having thus-described my invention, what I claim is l. In combination, a latch plate anchored `in the window frame, a window bead provided with a vertical slot coincident with thel latch plate,` a tubular housing inserted in said slot, the inner and Vouter sides of this housing being open and the housing being provided with means for anchoring it in the window bead, a gravitating latch inclosed in the housing, this latch being providedL with an inwardly-extending, downwardly-` turned hook adapted to engage said latch plate, the plate-engaging edge of the hook being beveled downwardly and inwardly,

tating latch inclosed in the housing and slotted longitudinally for the passage therethrough of said guiding means, this latch being provided with an inwardly extending, downwardly-turned hook adapted to engage said latch plate, the plate-engaging edge of the hook heilig beveled downwardly and inwardly, and also with an outwardly-extending finger piece terminating at a distance from the outer face of the bead.
