Description
H. BOLDT. ROOF GUTTER BRACKET.
APPLICATION FILED APR. 29, I915- Patented Feb. 8, 1916.
HUGO BOLD'I, or DURANT, IOWA.
ROOF-GUTTER BRACKET.
[' all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, Huco BOLDT, a'citizen of the United States, residing at Durant, in
the county' of Cedar and State of Iowa, have invented certain new and useful Improve ments in Roof-Gutter Brackets; andv I do. declare the followin to be a full, clear, and
- exact description of the invention, such as of a. roof showing the application of a num- 3 her of the improved brackets to the beaded will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
My invention relates to roof gutter brackets, and has for its object to provide a device of this class which although being of extremely simple and inexpensive construction, will be highly eflicient and durable in operation.
With this object in view, the invention resides in the specific construction hereinafter described and claimed and shown in,
the accompanying drawings wherein like reference characters designate corresponding parts throughout the several views and wherein: Y 7
Figure l'is a perspective view of a portion gutter thereof; Fig. 2 is a vertical section through a portion of the gutter and the roof showing one of the brackets in edge view; and, Fig. 3 is'a perspective view of'one of the brackets.
In this drawing which constitutes part of the application, B designates a portion of an inclined roof constructed of shingles S or the like. Near the lower edge of the roof R, the gutter Gris provided, said gutter in cluding an inclined base plate P which is shown in the present application as inserted beneath one of the lower rows of shingles, while extended upwardly from the lower edge of the plate P, is an additionalplate whose upper edge is curled outwardly and then inwardly to provide thebead B. It is from the bead B to the lower edge of the roof 7 R that the several braces 1 extend, whereby to not only effectively brace the up.-
I wardly extending plate of the gutter, but to present a rather attractive appearance.
Each bracket .1 is formed of a flat rigid strap or bar 2'disposed at a suitable incline and having its lower end bent laterally to provide'an attaching foot 3 having an opening 4 through which a nail or the like may .be passed to secure said bracket to the roof.
The upper end of the strap 2, however, is

count of its weather proof, qualities. Furthermore, the 'bracket may be varied in a number of ways falling within thescope 'of the following which claim as my invention u A roof gutter bracket comprising a subl stantially rectangular strip, oneend'being bent laterally 'to provide an attaching foot,
its opposite end being bent into the form of an 8, one loop of which is larger than the other, the smaller loop being disposed to one side of the plane of the body portion of the v I strip with its free end joined to the end of said body portion, the larger loop being disposed to the opposite 'side of said plane with its free end extended, the last named loop being adapted to receive the free edge of-the gutter bead, while itsi'cu'rved portion abuts the adjacent surface of the straight portion of the gutter, the extended end being disposed within the 'gutterbead.
In testimony whereof I havehereunto set my hand in presence of two subscribing witnesses.
