LUBBICATING DEVICE.
siding at Houston, in the c ounty of Harris and State of Texas, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Lubricating Devices, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to a new and useful improvement in a lubricating device:
The object of the invention is to provide a device of the character described which is designed particularly to be usedV for the purpose of supplying a lubricant to the 'ournal boxes of cars, particularly railway and street cars. l'
Another feature ofthe invention resides 4 in the provision of a device of the character described whereby a fixed amount of the lubricant may be discharged into each journal box thereby preventing an over and consequent waste.
A further feature of the invention resides in the provision of a means for forcing the lubricant out of the device thereby facilitating the operation of applying the lubricant to theboxes.

Fixed upon the piston 11, underneath the collar 15, is a flange 17, and interposed between said lange and the top 8, and surrounding the piston rod is a strong coil spring 18, which normally holds the piston rod and the piston elevated. Surrounding the orifice 12, is an upstanding funnel shaped iange 19, which is provided to catch 'vali-fes numbered respectively 20 and 21 and rilztnged on opposite sides of said cylinder.

The numeral 26, refers tothe outlet spout which is attached to the upper end of the pipe 24, by means of elbow 27. This spout may be formed into any shape so as to be suitable for applying a lubricant to any ,style of journal. l
The upper end of the piston rod is outwardly threaded and is provided with two nuts 28, 28, which are threaded on said piston rod and which are intended to lock against one' another. These nuts may be or down'on saidA threaded section thus fixed and the amount of lubricant discharged with each stroke of the piston thus determined. e
