.UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
JOSEPH GILLIS LUNDY, 0F EVER-GREEN, ALABAMA.
LAUNDRY-REGISTERING DEVICE.
Application filed April 3, 1915.
T 0 all whom it may concern Be it known that I, JOSEPH G. LUNDY, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Evergreen, in the county of Conecuh and State of Alabama, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Laundry-Registering Devices; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to improvements in laundry registering devices, the object of the invention to provide a simple and compact mechanical device which will facilitate the keeping of a laundry list by accurately recording the numbers of the various articles sent to the laundry, and then checking off the articles when they shall have been returned from the laundry.
A further object is to so construct a laundry register that it may be folded or collapsed and held into compact form, and so that it may be readily opened out and easily manipulated to accurately record the various laundry articles.
With these and other objects in view, the invention consists in certain novel features of construction and combinations of parts as hereinafter set forth and pointed out in the claims.
In the accompanying drawings; Figure 1 is a view illustrating my improved register with the blades opened in fan-formation, ready for use; Fig. 2 is a view showing the device folded or collapsed and Fig. 3 is a sec tional view.
My improved register comprises a plurality of blades or wings 1 pivotally connected together at one end by means of a bolt 2 and properly spaced apart by disks 3 encircling said bolt. One end of the bolt may be provided with a head 4 and the other end is threaded for the reception of a thumb nut 6, by means of which the blades or wings may be clamped together and be thus held against movement when the device is collapsed as shown in Fig. 2 and if desired, when the blades or wings are spread as shown in Fig. 1.
Any desired number of blades or wings may be employed, and the several blades or wings are marked with the names of the various articles which it may be desired to send to the laundry. For example, one blade may be marked Shirts, another Skirts,

another Towels, another S. Waists, another Hdkfs (meaning handkerchiefs), etc. Each blade is graduated and the graduations are numbered from 1 to 12, or the number of graduations may be increased or decreased, if desired.
A slide or indicator 7 is mounted on each blade so that it may be made to register with any one of the graduations thereof. In order that the slides or indicators may be retained in the positions to which they may be moved, they are made with teeth or projections 8 (which may be formed by punching the metal of the slides) to engage slight depressions 9 in the blades.
Vith the use of my improvements, the slides on the various blades may be quickly moved to register with the proper graduations to denote the number of each article sent to the laundry, and when the list shall have been completed, the device may be collapsed or folded and clamped to preserve the record until the laundry shall have been returned, when the device may be again opened out and the articles checked by moving the slides to zero positions.
My improvements are simple in construction; may be Stored in small space; may be readily transported, and is capable of easy manipulation.
Having fully described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters-Patent, is
1. A registering device comprising a plurality of pivotally connected blades having numerical graduations and each blade having a different article designation thereon, spacers between the pivoted ends of said blades for spacing the latter apart, indicators movable on said blades and adapted to occupy the spaces between the blades, and clamping means for temporarily holding the blades against relative movement.
2. A collapsible registering device comprising a plurality of blades each having numerical graduations and each blade having a different article designation thereon, spacers separating the blades, a pivot bolt passing through the end portions of the blades and through said spacers, a thumb nut on said bolt for clamping said blades against relative movement, and an indicator slide movable on each blade and adapted to occupy spaces between the blades.
3. A registering device, comprising pivotally connected blades, each having numbered graduations and article designations, each blade also having depressions in its face, and an indicator movable on each blade having a projection to enter any one of said depressions and hold said indicator in the position to which it may be adjusted.
In testimony whereof, I have signed this specification in the presence of two subscribing Witnesses.
