JACOB KEAGY, OF COSHOCTON, OHIO.
CONDENSER-COIL.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Feb. 1, 1916.
Application filed August 12, 1912. Serial No. 714,727.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, JACOB KnAGY,-a citizen of the United States, residing at C0- shocton. in the county of Coshocton and State of Ohio, have invented new and useful Improvements in Condenser-Coils, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to condenser coils for distilling purposes.
The main object of my invention is to provide a device of this kind made up of a number of detachable sections of such construction as to enable free access to be had to the interior of the sections for the purpose of applying enamel or similar coating.
The preferred embodiment of the invention is hereinafter described, and illustrated in the accompanying drawings.
In these drawings; Figure 1 is a front elevation. Fig. 2 is a fragmentary view showing two connected coils, and Fig. 3 is a detail plan view of part of one of the manifolds.
Referring to the drawings, 1 designates pipe sections which may be of any crosssectional shape, such as round, square or flO rectangular.
The numeral 2 designates vertical bars or supports to which are secured transverse bolts 3 which support and hold the pipes securely to the bars 2. The pipes l are connected at their ends by return pipes or elbows 4. Each pipe 1 at each end is pro vided with a flange 5, and each of the elbows 4 is provided with a flange 6. Theflanges 5 and 6 are connected by means of bolts or rivets 7. The elbows and pipes thus connected provide a continuous, tortuous passage for the liquid passing through the condenser coil. A manifold 8 is connected to Copies of this patent may be obtained for the upper pipe 1 and a similar manifold 8 is connected to the lower pipe 1. Each manifold is provided with a pipe 9, which in the case of the upper manifold serves as the liquid inlet and which in the case of the lower manifold serves as the liquid outlet.
It is desirable in some cases that a series of the coils be employed and to this end the manifold or liquid supply pipe is provided with a plurality of outlets having the adjacent flanges 5 of the adjacent pipes 1. Between the several flanges mentioned, suitable packing material such as cork may be placed. aS is obvious.
By means of the construction shown, it will be seen that the parts are of such construction that the interior thereof is readily accessible for the application of enamel or similar material thereto, and it will also be seen that the construction is such as can be readily disassembled or assembled.
It is clear that changes may be made within the spirit and scope of the appended claim.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim is:
A device of the character described comprising end bars, transversely extending rods connecting said end bars, pipe sections extending between said transversely extending rods, elbows connecting said pipe sec tions outside said rods, and manifolds connected with the upper and lower pipe sections.
