GEORGE HAROLD RICHARDS, OF AURORA,
'ILLINOIS, ASSIGNOB, 'IO AURORA DOOR HANGER AND SPECIALTY COMPANY, OF AURORA, ILLINOIS, A CORPORATION OF ILLINOIS.
D 00 B-I-IANGER.
Specification'of Letters Patent.
Patented Jan. 25, 1916.
Application filed October 6, 1913. Serial No. 793,556.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, GEORGE H. RICHARDS, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Aurora, in the county of Kane and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Door-Hangers, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact specification.
My invention relates to door hangers and is designed to produce a hanger of the class described, which shall be simple in its construction and capable of ready adjustment to determine the height of the door relative to the rails upon which the hanger truck runs.
To illustrate my invention, I annex hereto a sheet of drawings in which the same reference characters are used to designate identical parts in all the figures, of which Figure 1 is a side elevation of the hanger with the track in section, as seen on the line A-A of Fig. 2; Fig. 2 is a vertical section on the line 13-13 of Fig. l; and, Fig. 3 is a view similar to Fig. 1, but with the door raised sothat the hanger supporting bolt can be turned in its nut for adjustment.
The truck frame a may be of any desired construction, and has the wheels 6 journaled therein in any desired manner and adapted to run in the track 0 in a customary manner. The door d has the plates 6 and f bolted thereon, and provided with registering slots in the horizontal flanges through which the bolt 9 passes after passing through the bottom of the stirrup it. By loosening the nut 2', the position of the stirrup h relative to the door d can be adjusted as may be desired.
Cooperating with the stirrup h is a yoke j which is conveniently constructed of sheet metal and has the horizontal bearing portion is adapted to receive the pivot bolt Z passed through said horizontal bearing portion and through apertures in the up-turned ends of the stirrup h. The yoke also has a vertical bearing portion at through which the supporting bolt 10. passes loosely. This bolt preferably has the squared head 0 adapted to cooperate with the recess 29 formed in the yoke j so that when the door is suspended and its weight comes on the truck frame, the head 0 of the bolt, by reason of its engagement with the recess 70, is held from turning. When the door is lifted up, as shown in Fig. 3, so that the weight is taken off of the bolt, the head 0 is released from the recess 7) and the bolt can be turned and, preferably, to expedite this turning, the head 0 is provided with the recesses Q in which a pin may be inserted to facilitate turning the bolt. The upper end of the bolt is threaded through a nut 0" which is held in the frame a from rotation as the bolt is turned, but which preferably takes the form of a short cylinder journaled in the frame a so that the yoke is free to swing somewhat in the general vertical plane of the truck.
With the foregoing construction, it will be obvious that the height of the door rela tive to the track can be readily adjusted, as conditions demand.
While I have shown and described my invention as embodied in the form which I at present consider best adapted to carry out its purposes, it will be understood that it is capable of some modification and that I do not desire to be limited in the interpretation of the following claims except as may be necessitated by the state of the prior art.
What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States is 1. In a door hanger, the combination with a track, of a truck frame, wheels journaled in said frame cooperating with the track, a nut mounted in the frame and held thereby from turning in a horizontal plane, an inverted headed bolt threaded through the nut, a hanger yoke having a long horizontal bearing and a vertical bearing above it by which it is supported by the bolt head, and having an inverted T-shaped recess between said bearings cooperating with the head thereof and preventing the bolt from turning when it rests on the head and permitting the bolt to be turned when the door is raised to bring the wider portion of the recess into the horizontal plane of the head, a stirrup pivotally connected with the yoke, and a door secured to the stirrup.
2. In a door-hanger, the combination with a truck-frame having a pair of wheels journaled at each end thereof, of a nut supported in and held by the frame from rotation in a horizontal plane, but mounted to rotate on a horizontal axis parallel to the axis of the wheels, a bolt having its threaded In witness whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and aflixed my seal, this 27th day of September A. D. 1913.
GEORGE HAROLD RICHARDS.

end screwed into the nut, and a hanger suspended upon' the nut, and having a recess with which the head of the bolt cooperates to prevent it from turning when the Weight of the door is on the frame, and from which it is released as the door is lifted to permit the adjustment of the bolt.
