WRENCH.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Jan. 11, 1916.
Application filed November 12, 1914. Serial No. 871,701.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, FRANK X. FLEcK, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of the city of New York, borough of Brooklyn, in the county of Kings and State of New York, have invented a new and Improved WVrench, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
The object of the invention is to provide a new and improved wrench, more especially designed for the use of printers, plumbers and other mechanics, and arranged to provide a plurality of diiferently sized and shaped wrench heads and handles for taking hold of the wrench, one handle for each head, and so positioned relative thereto that the user can effectively turn the part:l engaged by the corresponding wrench iea In order to accomplish the desired result use is made of a plurality of handles integrally connected with each other at their ends, and wrench heads each extending integrally and outwardly at the joint of two handles and standing at a right angle to a third handle.
A practical embodiment of the invention is represented in the accompanying drawings forming a part of this specification, in which similar characters of reference indicate corresponding parts in both views.
Figure l is a side elevation of the wrench; and Fig. 2 is a plan View of the same.
The .frame of the wrench is in the form of a triangle, the sides of which form handles A, A, A integrally connected with each other at their ends. The wrench heads B, B and B are arranged integrally at the corners of the frame and extend outwardly therefrom, the wrench heads being of different shapes and sizes according to the intended use. By reference to Fig. 1 it will be noticed that the wrench head at one corner stands approximatelv at right angles to the opposite handle of the frame, that is, the wrench head B extends at a right angle to the handle A the wrench head B extends at a right angle to the handle A, and the wrench head B extends at a right angle Copies of this patent may be obtained for to the handle A. Thus when it is desired to use any one of the wrench heads, say, for instance, the wrench head B then the user takes hold of the opposite handle A for turning the wrench with a view to turn the article engaged by the wrench head B By the arrangement described, the user can take a firm hold of the wrench and in such a manner that the hand is in proper position relative to the head used at the time so that the user of the wrench can effectively turn the latter and the article engaged by the corresponding wrench head.
Although the wrench heads shown in the drawings are more particularly intended for the use of printers, it is evident that I do not limitmyself to the particular size and shape shown, as the same may be varied without deviating from my invention.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent:
A wrench substantially as herein described, comprising three integral handle bars arranged in the form of a triangle and extending throughout the major portion of their lengths 0n straight lines, and all of which are unobstructed on their outer sides, together with extensions at the junctures of the adjacent handle bars forming prolongations thereof in a direction at an angle to their respective handle bars, and said extensions being in alinement with lines bisecting the inner angles of said bars, and at right angles to the handle bar uniting the opposite ends of said handle bars, said extensions being constructed to serve as wrench heads, and operating as limiting ends of the handle bars, to center the hand, when any one of the latter is grasped by the hand in operating the wrench head extending at a right angle to said particular handle bar.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
FRANK X. FLECK.
