To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, CLIFTON G. WV1LsoN,a citizen of the United States," residing at Eureka, in the county of Humboldt and State of California, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Camping- Stoves, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings.

This invention relates to an improved camping stove and has for its primary object to provide a device of this character primarily designed for use by miners, prospectors, campers, automobilists, and others who desire a stove which may be compactly folded into small compass.

It is a more particular object of the invention to provide a stove of the above character including two main supporting rods, corner legs or props therefor adapted to be driven into the ground, and a pluralits of grate bars slidably engaged upon the supporting rods.

The invention has for an additional object to provide a device of the above character which is exceedingly simple in its construction, highly serviceable and c onven-. ient in practical use, and may be manufactured at very small cost.

WVith the above and other objects in view, my invention consists in the novel features of construction, combination, and arrangement of parts to be hereinafter more fully described, claimed, and illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in which,

Referring in detail to the drawing, 5 indicates the main supporting rods of the stove. Each of these rods is provided upon one end with a head or flange 6 and has its other end angularly disposed, as at 7, the said angular ends of the rods 5 being threaded to receive the nuts 8, Upon each of the rods 5,, a pair of supporting legs 9 are loosely engaged at one of their ends, said legs, at their other ends, longitudinally tapering, as at 10, so that the same can be readily driven into the ground.

rods 5,. Any desired number of these grate bars may be employed.

When it is desired to use the stove, the same is set up in the manner shown in Fig. 1, with the legs 9 embedded in the ground and the grate bars 11 spaced along the rods 5 which are disposed in vertical planes. The fire is, of course, built under these bars in the usual manner and the pots or pans containing the materials to be cooked are supported upon said bars. After the stove has been used, the several parts thereof may be compactly folded together, as shown in Fig. 2. After removing the supporting legs 9 from the ground, these legs, as well as the grate bars 11, are moved longitudinally upon the supporting rods 5 and upon the angularly disposed ends of said rods until they lie in close superposed relation to each other. The rods 5 are then swung or folded inwardly into engagement with each other. Thus, all of the parts of the stove structure are very compactly assembled and may be readily bound together by means of a strap, rope, or other convenient tie.

From the foregoing description, taken in connection with the accompanying drawing, it will be seen that I have produced an eX- ceedingly serviceableand convenient camping stove which may be packed into a small space, automobile, canoe, or other vehicle, or readily carried in a valise or bag. The stove may be very easily and quickly set up in position for use or readily knocked down and the parts thereof folder together. The stove can, of course, be constructed in various sizes and a greater number of the supporting legs provided, if desired. The in-, vention is also susceptible of obvious modifications in the form and proportion of the several parts and I, therefore, reserve the privilege of resorting to all such legitimate changes as may be fairly embodied within the spirit and scope of the invention as claimed.

Having thus fully described my invention, what I desire to claim and secure by Letters Patent is 1. A camping stove including a pair of supporting rods, a plurality of legs loosely engaged at one of their ends upon each of said rods, a series of grate bars loosely engaged at their ends upon the respective supporting rods, said legs and grate bars being adapted to be moved along the supporting rods in superimposed relation to each other and the rods folded inwardly and dis 7 the angular portions thereof and into superposed relation to each other and said rods then swung inwardly and disposed in the plane of the grate bars and supporting legs, and nuts threaded upon the angular ends of the supporting rods.
