Be it known that l, Pirna? J. lllix, a citi zen of the United States, residing at Boulder, in the county of Boulder and State of Colorado, have invented certain new and useful improvements in Pocket-Seats, of which the following is a specification, reierence being had to the accompanying drawings.

This invention comprehends certain new and useful improvements in stools or seats, and relates particularly to a seat of the foldable type.

The invention has for its primary object a durable and eflicient construction of device of this character, the parts of which may be easily manufactured and readily assembled and not liable to get out oforder, and the invention also aims to provide a, pocket seat which will be very compact and light and capable of being easily stowed away or carried in a coat or hip pocket, or any small traveling bag or the like.'

A further object of the invention is to provide a very convenient and serviceable device of this kind in which the seat proper is removable from the frame and is so arranged that it may be easily wrapped around the frame when the latter is in its folded condition, the seat proper being pref erably provided with clasps whereby itinay be secured around the folded frame, and with a handle so that the device may be easily carried in the hand, if desired. Arnd the invention also aims to generally improve devices of this class so as to render them more useful and commercially desirable.

With these and other objects in view as will more fully appear as the description proceeds, the invention consists in certain constructions, arrangements and combinations of the parts that l shall hereinafter more fully describe and claim.

For a full understanding of the invention, reference is to be had to the following description and accompanying drawing, in which- Figure l is a side elevation ofa pocket seat constructed in accordance with my invention, parts being broken away. Fig. 2 is a top plan view of the device with the central portion of the seat proper broken out. Fig. 3 is a view of the frame in folded condition. Fig. 4L is a detail longitudinal section of the standard to which the seat supporting bars are pivotally connected at one end. Fig. 5 is a detail sectional view through one of the legs.

other metal or substance, there being four legs in the present instance and being pret'- erably formed of channeled material, as best illustrated in Fig. Preferably if the channeled legs l are formed of aluminium, or any similar light substance, instead of steel, 'the side walls are reinforced by being thickened, as illustrated at 2. The seat proper is designated l1. It may ,y beformed out of'any desired substance or material and preferably of some textile fabric whichis not liable to sag or stretch and if desired, it may be reinforced by diagonally extending strips of webbing 12.

The edge or marginv of the seat 11 is turned down to any predetermined or vsuitable eX- tent so as to hook over the upper ends of the supporting bars 3, and preferably the seat'llis provided at its corners with reinforcing members 13 formed of some strong, light' and pliable leather or other substance or material.

lt will'thus be seen that l have produced I a very durable and eliicient device lof this character which will be found to be very convenient inv countless places, and various situations where a small, strong, and compact folding seat or stool is'desirable.

l/Vhile the accompanying drawing illustrates what I believe to be the preferred embodiment of my invention, it is to be understood that the invention is not limited in this regard, but that various changes may be made in the construction, arrangements and proportions of the parts without departing from the scope of the invention as defined in the appended claims.

What is claimed, is:

l. A device of the character described, comprising legs and seat supporting bars pivotally connected together intermediate of their ends, a post pivot-,ally connected to the legs at one end of the latter, a standard slidable upon the post and pivotally connected to the bars at one end of the same, a latch arranged to hold the standard and post in fixed adjustment relative to each other, and a seat arranged to be supported upon said bars.

comprising a plurality of channeled legs and a plurality of bars, the legs and bars being pivotally connected together intermediate of their ends and the bars being of a width to nest within the channels of the legs, the latter being formed at one end with slots for the purpose specified, a post pivotally connected to the slotted ends of the legs, a standard slidable upon the post and pivotally connected to the bars at one end of the latter, a latch carried by the standard and engageable with the post, and a seat adapted to be connected to the other ends of said bars. t 3. A device of the character described, comprising a supporting frame embodying a plurality of legs and a plurality of seat supporting bars pivotally connected together intermediate of their ends, the legs being channeled and the bars being adapted to nest within the channels and the legs being further provided between the pivot points and one end with longitudinally extending slots, a post provided with outwardly extending arms to which the slotted ends of the legs are pivotally connected, a standard slidable upon the post and provided at one end with outwardly extending arms to which the adjoining ends of the bars are pivotally connected, means for holding the standard and post in fixed adjustment rel ative to each other, and a. seat proper adapted to be supported on the other ends of the bars.
