HOLDER OR. SUPPORT FOR BATH SPRAY-PIPES.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Dec. 28, 1915.
Application filed December 16, 1914. Serial No. 877,616.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, GEORGE RUBIN, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of New York, in the county of New York and State of New York, have made an Improvement in Holders or Supports for Bath Sprav-Pipes, of which the following is a specification.
My invention is an improvement in holders or supports for spray pipes used in bathtubs, and adapted to be secured to the edge of the same adjacent to the discharge cook.
The novel construction and combination of parts are as hereinafter described and claimed, and illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in which;
Figure 1 is a perspective view of my device shown applied to a bath-tub in working position and supporting a spray pipe and nozzle. Fig. 2 is a side View. Fig. 3 is a rear View of the spray-pipe holder detached from the tub.
The spray-pipe holder is formed of a single metal rod bent and shaped as shown in Figs. 1, 2, 3; that is to say, the ends of the straight arms 3 are curved forward and downwardsee especially Fig. 2while the lower portion of the device is composed of rear, inwardly curved claws 8 and the front pendent arms 8 and laterally projecting U-shaped bends 8 The said rear claw 8 is adapted to engage the rounded edge of the bath-tub, and the front arms 8 and lateral bends 8 lie flat against the inner side of the bathtub so that the device is self-supporting on the tub, but may be easily and quickly detached.
The upper curved edge of the arms 3 are connected by a cross-bar 5, which has threaded ends adapted to screw into sockets provided in the terminals of said arms. The central portion of the cross bar 5 is constructed with lugs 4, curved toward each other, and thus adapted to receive between them and support the flexible spray pipe 7 or its nozzle, as shown in Fig. 1. It will be seen that the cross bar 5 may be rotated to adjust the lugs 4 forward or backward so as to place the pipe or nozzle 7 at a greater or less inclination, as required to direct the spray higher or lower. Thus the bather may quickly adjust the angle of the spray upon his head, shoulders and arms, or upon the lower portions of his body, as desired.
It is to be noted that the pendent short arms 8 are in the same plane with the long arms 3 and U-bends 8 so that when the device is applied to a tub with a spray pipe attached thereto, the center of gravity is forward of the claws 8. It is obvious that the device may be readily detached from the tub by simply removing the spray pipe from the lug holder and turning the arms 3 backward.
iVhat I claim is A bath-tub spray pipe holder comprising an upper part formed of arms whose ends are curved forward and downward, and a base part consisting of an open claw projecting rearwardly, and a front portion formed of short pendent arms and lateral U-bends whereby the said holder is self-sup porting on a tub rim and may be readily de' tached by turning it backward, as described.
