Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Dec. I I, I915.
To all whom itmay concern:
Be it known that I, Roy A. DARLING, a citizen of the United States, residing at Pellston, in the county of Emmet and State of Michigan, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Tooth-Brushes, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to improvements in toilet cases and one object of the invention is the provision of a toilet case and a tooth brush which can be collapsed or reduced in size to permit carrying in the pocket and which can be quickly adjusted for use and as readily collapsed and which will perform its desired functions in a thoroughly eflicient manner.
Another object of my invention is the provision of a toilet case embodying a container for tooth powder or dentifrice and a pocket tooth brush which can be quickly adjusted for use, which will be cleanand sanitary, which can be produced at the'right price and which can be made of any desired and preferred material.
To attain the desired objects my invention consists of a toilet case embodying novel features of construction and combination of parts, substantially as shown, described and particularly defined ,by the claims.
Figure 1 is a view partly inelevation and partly in section of a toilet case constructed in accordance with and embodying my invention. Fig. 2 is an end View of the case. Fig. 3 is a view partly in elevation and partly in section of a modified form of my invention,
and Fig. 4 is a view of the inner end of this modified form.
In the drawings, the letter A, designates the brush proper having its-shank 13, se-
cured to the stem or plug E. The stem or plug E, forms what may be termed the connection by reason ofits threads F, which engage the threads G, of the receiving case H, which forms a case when the brush is out of use.
In the construction shown in Figs. 1 and forms a provide the concentric casing K, which pocket or receiver L, for tooth powder or dentifrice, the end wall M, beingprovided with a discharge opening N,adapted to register with the discharge opening 0, of the pivoted cap or cover P, to cover or close the (pening N, or to allow. the discharge of a 'su cient quantity of the powderthrough openings N and O to the brush, as is obvious.
In the form of my invention shown in Figs. 3 and 4, the container Q has discharge opening Q, at its inner end controlled by cap R, having discharge openings It", this construction bringing the feed of the powder to the brush at the most desirable position.
It will be noted that both forms of my case embody the samegeneral principle and perform their function in a similar manner.
The advantages of my invention will be readily understood and it will be apparent that I provide a practical, useful and efficient toilet case and tooth brush which can be easily carried in the pocket and quickly adjusted for use.
I claim:
1. I i a toilet case, the combination with a tube adapted to receive a tooth brush, of a perfo I ted casing surrounding the tube and forming a container for dentifrice, said casing having a movable, perforated cap adapted to iregister with the perforation in the casing;
2. In a toilet case, the combination with a tube adapted to receive a tooth brush, of a perforated casing surrounding said tube, and aper'forated, pivoted cap on the casing adapted to register with the perforations in the casing to permit exit of dentifrice.
In testimony whereof I aflix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
ROY A. DARLING.
