The object of my invention is to so i1n` prove the construction that a straight rail can be used, the rollers traveling freely along the guide rail from the open to the closed position. f

lt will be noticed that both brackets are extended s0 that the pivot point is'somed-istance from the. door f' frame `and from the inner surface of the door, and thatthepivot bracket 10 of theA illustratedin Fig. 8, extending partlyiover thedoor frame and partly over the platform. Consequently,the door does'not project beyond the side frame of the car.
Secured to the outer door section 5, preferably some distance from the pivotk point, as indicated in Fig. 1, is a bracket 11; the door being recessed at the upper edge, as indicated in Figs. 1 and 4 to receive the bracket, and pivoted at 12 to the projecting portion of the bracket is a yguide 13 having two pins 14 on which are mounted the rollers 15. These rollers travel between' the two rails 2 and 3 and guide the outer section of the door as the door is opened and closed. The pivot 12 projects beyond the outer face of the door, as illustrated in Figs. 4 and 6, so that, when the door is moved, the rollers control the guide 13, keeping it from turning but allowing Vit to slide freely between the rails while the bracket and the door section 5 turn on `the pivot 12 so that, when the door is in the closed position, the section 5 will assume the position clearly shown in Fig. 3. Thus curved rails are dispensed with andl a constructionis provided which will ailow the door to open and close with the least amount of friction.
Any suitable mechanism may be used for opening and closing the doors, or the doors may be opened or closed by hand, if desired.
