To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, EMIL JAGENBERG, a subject of the German Emperor, and residing at 107 Himmelgeisterstrasse, Dusseldorf, fQl'IIlitIlY, manufacturer, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Paper-Feeding Machines, of which the following is a specification.
The present invention relates to an arrangenient for drawing labels from a pile and conveying them farther.
The essential feature of the new arrangement consists above all in the adjustability of the rollers or the endless conveyer belts respectively, which convey the labels drawn from the pile. This adjustability allows of the arrangement being used for labels of any width. 7
A further feature of the present invention consists in a device for accurately regulating the drawing-off of the labels.
In the accompanying drawings Figure 1 is a side elevation,-Fig. 2 is a longitudinal part'section, Fig. 3 is a plan, and Figs. 4 and 5-are views of .the automatic pawl-engaging gear in two different positions. Fig. 6 is a side elevation and Fig. -7 is a plan of a modified constructional form.
On the body 1 of the machine is secured the frame 2 by means of screws 3. In this frame are rcvolubly 1011111Etl8d two shafts &,
-5, on which rollers. 6 and toothed wheels 7 are fitted. Over the rollers 6. run endless rubber bands 8 and over the toothed wheels 7 an endless chain .9. On the said rubber bands lies a pile of labels 10 which is supported by the side walls 11, which by means of ears 12 and screws 13 are adjustably fit ted to'the frame 2. Between'the shafts 4, 5 a' shaft 14 is journaled in the frame 2, on which shaft 14 are loosely fitted two arms15, the free ends of which are coupled by a rod 16 arranged alongside of shaft 5, and on which seyeral thin bars 18 are secured by means of clips-17, the free ends of said bars 18 bearing against the shaft 1 1. On the rod 16 are further fitted two rods 19, which extend through clips 20 on arms 21. By adjusting these rods 19, after the clips 20 have been loosened, the incline of the bars 18 can be varied. On these bars the rear end of the pile of labels rests, so that the rubber bands support the front end only. The front edgesof the labels bear against rails 23. which are slidably fitted in brackets These brackets 22 are displaceably fitted Specification of Letters Patent.

This ratchet wheel 27 can be axially displaced on the shaft 4, but cannot rotate thereon, being prevented from doing so by a tongue and groove 29. Against the hub of the ratchet wheel bears a spring 30 which is fitted to the end of shaft 4 and is there held by means of the nut 31. The spring therefore presses the two clutch men1bers tightly against each other. A For increasing the friction a leather disk 32 may be placed between the said members. the teeth of the ratchet wheel 27 engages a pawl 33, which is pivotally fitted to the frame 2 andhas two arms 34:, 35, of which the one 3 1 lies in front of a toothed wheel 36 which is revolubly fitted to the frame 2. On this wheel a pin 38 with a roller 39 is adjustably fitted in a slot 37. -When the wheel revolves, this roller bears against the arm 34 and thereby disengages the pawl 33. To the other arm is linked a rod L0 and fitted a spring 41, which tends to press the *pawl 33 into the ratchet teeth. Ratchet is adjustably fitted by means of screws 44 :clamped a curved bar 50, the free end of i to the body 1 of the machine, the same as which bears against an inclined plate 51, which is secured to' the rod e6.
