WATERPGLOSET BOWL.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Nov. 9, 1915..
Application filed March 31, 1915. Serial No. 18,389.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, EARL G. l/Va'rnooa'a citizen of the United States, residing at Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in VVater-Closet Bowls, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to a water closet bowl of the type provided with a rim flush and the object thereof is to provide a novel and eflicient construction according to which water instead of being delivered to the rearward side of the flushing rim in a single stream is delivered thereto in two streams striking against each other. In the type of rim flush bowls in which such single stream or jet is employed it is found in practice that the forcible impact of the water against the opposing wall of the rim creates a considerable suction or vacuum in the adjacent space with the result that an insufiicient supply of water is delivered to the rearward side of the bowl and with the further result that too much water runs around to the forward side of the rim. In other words, it results that too much water is supplied to the for- Ward side of the bowl and too little water is supplied to the rearward side of the bowl. The object and the practical result of my invention is to provide a uniform supply and distribution of the water to all sides of the bowl.
In the drawing the figure is a sectional plan of a water closet bowl embodying my invention, the section being taken on a plane passing through the rim flush.
Referring to the present embodiment of my invention as shown in the drawings the bowl may be of any usual or suitable construction of the rim flush type, the bowl being indicated at l, the rim flush at 2 and the series of openings at 3, the openings at the forward side of the bowl being slotted as usual. In the present instance the rearward side of the bowl is provided with a spud connection 4L and also with a water supply chamber 5, although as will be understood the presence of a chamber at this point is not essential. This chamber communicates with the rim flush 2 by means of the two angular ports or openings 6 which are inclined toward each other at such an angle that the two streams of water delivered by them will strike each other at the opposing wall of the rim flush at the point 7 whereby the force of the water is destroyed by the impact of the two streams against each other. As a result the combined streams of water will divide and will flow with the proper pressure around the opposite sides of the bowl and will be properly distributed through the openings 3.
I claim:
1. A water closet bowl and its flushing rim having two water supply openings arranged at an angle to cause their streams of water to strike each other within the rm.
2. A water closet bowl having a flushing rim and a water chamber 5, the rim having two openings 6 between the chamber and the interior of the rim and disposed at an angle to each other to cause their streams of water to strike each other within the rim.
