IMPROVEMENT IN DEVICES FOR APPLYING REMEDIES TO THE EAR.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 115,944, dated June 13,1871.

The nature of my invention consists in the construction and arrangement of a device whereby heated air or other medicaments may be applied to the ear in the form of gas or vapor, as will be hereinafter more fully set forth.
In order to enable others skilled in the art to which my invention appertains to make and use the same, I will now proceed to describe its construction and operation, referring to the annexed drawing, which represents a side View of my imention.
A represents a tube of any suitable size, provided with a bulb, B, at or near the middle. At one end the tube is bent, as shown, and the extreme end contracted. This tube and bulb may be made of glass or metal, as may be desired. At the other end of the tube A is attached a flexible tube, C, provided with a mouth-piece, D.
The contracted end of the tube A is placed in the ear, and the tubeAwill be held so that the bulb B will be over a flame. Then, by blowing in the mouth-piece D, the air which is heated in the bulb B is blown into the ear; or any medicaments in the form of gas or vapor may be applied to the car by this device.
Having thus fully described my invention,
what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The pipe A, provided with the bulb B, flexible tube 0, and mouth-piece D, constructed substantially as shown and described, and used for the purpose of applying remedies to the car, as herein set forth.
