Description

HENRY' DEYOE.-
improvement in Fences.
N0 H5 830 vPtntedJune13,18?1.
l l V PATENT GEEIGE,
HENRY DEYoE, or MACHIAS, NEWy YORK.
IMPRQVEMENT IN FENCES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 115,830, dated June 13, 1871.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HENRY DEYoE, of Ma chias, in the county of Cattaraugus and State of New York, have invented a new and Improved Fence; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable others skilled in the art to make and use the same, reference being had to tbeaccompanying drawing forming part of this specification.
This invention relates to improvements in fences; and it consists in metal posts formed by two rods of iron, hooked under opposite sides of a stone or metal base, and shaped above it so as to rise side by side, and be clamped {irmly together by a ring, to which posts the panels are secured by hooks, all as hereinafter' described. l
Figure 1 is a side elevation of my improved fence, and Fig. 2 is an end elevation.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts. y v
A represents the metal rods, which are bent under a stone, Wood, or other suitable base, B, as shown at C, to be supported vertically', and above the base they are brought together at D, and thence rise side by side as high as required, being rmly clamped together by a ring, E, driven down from the top. The panels, which are permanently built together, are
suspended at the ends on right-angled hooks' F projecting from rings G, also placed on the posts by slipping` down from the top, and secured at any point by keys H. The vertical parts of these hooks are made to extend sufficiently from the posts to receive the ends of two panels or a board thereof, the one lapping the other, and a key may bc used for tighten-4 ing them up.
One or more hooks may be used on each post for holding the panels 5 but I prefer to use only one, arranging it to receive one of the boards ofthe panel above the center.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- The post formed of the rods A, base-block B, and rings E, all arranged substantially as specified.
Witnesses: HENRY DEYOE.
