To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, Mnonron LEBLANC, a'citizen of the Republic of France, residing at Val-sur-Seine, Croissy, Seine-et-Oise, France, have made a new and useful Invention in Wet Vacuum-Pumps of the Rotary Type, of which the following is a specification.
The condenser of the applicant company described in U. S. A Patents No. 984278 dated 1d February 1911 and No. 984435 dated 14: February 1911, has been practically applied as a rotary dry vacuum pump for the purpose of withdrawing the air and non-condensible gases of a condenser, either of the surface or the jet type, and forcing them into a space where a higher pressure prevails. Certain processes have been described in U. S. A.-Patent No. 5l1817 dated 7th August 1909 of the said company for transforming the said pump intoawet vacuum pump, that is to say, a pump capable from a suface condenser not only the air and the non-condensible gases but also the water of condensation.
The present invention has for its object a new arrangement whereby this transformation of the rotary dry vacuum pump mentioned just above into a wet vacuum pump may be carried out in practice. This result is obtained in the manner which will now be described with reference to the single figure of the accompanying drawing.
The rotary pump is constituted as described in the patents mentioned above, by turbine wheel furnished with a crown of blades E and driven in the direction of the arrow by any suitable kind of motor. The fixed nozzle D directs water iipon the crown ct blades which sprays them in cone-shaped showers into the chamber Gr which is in communication with'the pipe H and the diffuser K. At another'part of the periphery of the movable wheel a suction conduit A is provided arranged in any suitable orconvenient manner and issuing at a suitable distance from the orifice of the nozzle. The water to be withdrawn from the condenser is supplied to this conduit.
The moving blades communicate kinetic energy to the Water of condensation and propel it in the direction of the spray of water issuing from the air pump in such a manner that the water from the condenser,
the water from the ainpump, and the air withdrawn by the pipe Bare simultaneously forced into the diduser K.
Experience z-shows that the speed of the water spray the air pump is not appreciably diminished by this action and that consequently the pneumatic power of the air pump is not altered.
I claim- I 1-. A vacuum pump comprising a casing having a liquid inlet port, a liqu1d and air discharge port, a rotatable wheel located within said casing, a nozzle for delivering liquid to an annular row of blades mounted on the wheel and a passage of the blades from the nozzle.
