With these and other objects in view the invention consists in the construction and novel combination of parts hereinafter fully described, illustrated' in the accompanying v drawing, and pointed out in the claims hereto appended, it being understood that variproportion, size and minor detailswithinthe scope ofthe claims, may be resorted to without departing from the spirit or sacrificing any of the advantages of the' invention.

casing is providedat the front and rear -endI walls with threaded inlet and outlet openings9 and 10, preferably in the form of nipas shown, and receiving thel threaded ends 11 and 12 of i'nlet and outlet pipes 13 and 14, but the. connection between the casing and the pipes may be made in any other desired manner. The casing is equipped at the rear outlet compartment 7 with an outlet passage 15 of approximately L-shape, consisting of rearwardly extending horizontal portion, which is connected withthe outlet opening 10. The outlet passa-gel 15 is. preferably formed by integral walls or partitions, similar to the outlet of the'casing of the aforesaid patent. The 'outlet passage, which extends upwardly from the bottom of the casing, terminates midway between the top and bottom thereof, being provided at the top with a valve seatl surrounding an opening 17 and adapted to receive an automatically closing valve or closure 18, preferably in the form of a valve plug, as `shown in the aforesaid patent, and carried-by an oscillatory arm 19. The oscillatory arm 19 consists of arbar or piece pivotally mounted at, an intermediate point on ak transverse pivot 20 and having a rearextension 21 adapted to be engagedfby` a resetting device 22. lThe valve or closure 18 is preferably tapered to ,it the opening 1'7, 'which is `correspondingly tapered, and 'the said'valve or closure is preferably provided with agasket 23 consisting of a; ring of rubber or vany other suitable material, having its inner edge secured in an annular groove 24 inthe valve or closure, but any other suitable valve or closure may, of course, be employed. The pivot 20 is located above and'slightly in rear of the valve seat, and the oscillatory arm, which carries the valve or closure, ex-
tends upwardly and forwardly from the pivot, being arranged atan inclination when set for automatic operation. The valve oi closure isv preferably integral with the arm and the latter may also be thickened, as shown, adjacent to the valve plug or closure to secure the necessary weight and the de sired pressure on the valve or closure when the same is in its closed position. as illustrated in Fig. 2 of the drawing.
The valve or closure, which, when released, automatically closes by gravity, is held in an open position by a latch 25, consisting of a bell crank lever fulcruined at -its angle on a transverse pivot pin 2G and composed of an upper rearwardly extending arm 2i and a front depending arm 2S.
The pivot ".26 is located at the upper portion` of theI outlet compartment adjacent to the transverse partition 5, and the arm 27, which is arranged at an' inclination(engages the oscillatory arm 19, which is provided adjacent to its front or upper end 29 with a flange or lug 30, forming a seat for the arm 27. The upper or front end 29 projects beyond the flange 30 and forms a shoulder for engaging with the arm 2T of the latch'. The depending arm 28. which is in an approximatelyvertial position when the parts are.
set for automatic operation, as shown in Fig. 1. extends downwardly from the pivot to the connecting passage S and bears against the rear end of the tubular portion of the transverse partition and limits the downward movement of the upper arm. The depending arm is equipped yat its lower end with a finger 31, extending into the. passage S and also into the path of a closure 32, preferably in the form of a plug. as illustrated in the aforesaid patent. and carried by a bell crank lever 233, consisting of a relatively long depending arm 'l-land a relatively short upper rearwardly extending arm The bell crank lever 323, which is located within the inlet compartment. is fulcrumed at its iangle on a transverse pivot pin 3G. located abovevthe connecting passage i.. The depending arm extends downwardly from ythe pivot 3G to the front end of the connecting passage 8, and the closure is provided with a tapered portion 87 to fit the front portion 38 of the connecting passage, which ,is correspondingly tapered, and the said closure 32 is also provided with an integral stop flange 39 for limiting the inward or rearward movement of the closure to prevent the same from becomingwedged or sticking in the tapered front portion 38 of the said passage. Any other suitable form of closure may, of course, be employed, and when the said closure 32 moves inwardly or rearwardly to its closed position shown in Fig. 2, .it engages the nger 31 and forces the saine rearwardly to lift the upper arm '27 of the latch out of engagement with the oscillatory arm 19 to permit the valve or closure 18 to be swung by gravity to its closed position.
A coiled spring L10, which beats upon the front arm 35 and yieldably maintains the closure 32 in the open position shown in Fig. 1, is engaged by one arm of a lever # 11, pivoted at an intermediate point on a transverse pivot 42 and having its other end 13 forked or bifurcated to engage an annular groove 44 of an adjusting screw 45, mounted in a threaded opening in the top plate or cover of the casing and adapted to be adjusted to vaiy the tension of the spring 40 and thereby adjust the automatic cut otl' to close under the desired increase in the flow of the fluid pressure through the connecting passage. The tension adjusting means is substantially the same as that shown and described in theaforcsaid patent, with the exception that the upper end 46 of the adjusting screw is squared for the reception of a key, instead of being provided with an end slot. Any other preferred form of adjusting means may, of course, be employed.
The casing is equipped at the front with a screen -17 similar to that shown in the aforesaid patent, and the resetting device 3&2, which is adapted to swing the oscillatory arin 19 upwardly to rengage the same with the latch, preferably consists of a screw mounted in a threaded opening at the top or cover of the casing and adapted to be screwed downwardly from the position shown in Fig. 2 to that illustrated in Fig. 1. lYhen the oscillatory arm is swung downwardly to close the outlet and cut oiof the How of the fluid through the, device, the rearward extension 21 is arranged in a substantially horizontal position and the downward movement of the resetting screw 22 carries a lower rounded head -18 thereof into engagement with the extension 21 and lifts the valve or closure 18. The arm 19. in its upward movement, contacts with the arm 2T of the hitch, lifting the said arm 27. which drops into engagement with the end 29 of the said arm 19 and rests upon the seat 30 as soon as the said end 29 is carried beyond the rear end of the arm 2T of the latch by the resetting device. The resetting device is then moved upwardly from the position shown in Fig. 1 to that illustrated in Fig. 2, and the parts of the automatic cut ott' are then in position for operation by a predetermined increase in the fiow of the tiuid pressure.
