Another object of the invention is the provision of a check of this character, wherein the samecan be readily and easily adjusted to vary the binding action thereof on the picker stick, the check being of novel form to assure the perfect working thereof. A further object of the invention is the provision of a check of this character, wherein the guard upon the picker stick is adjustably clamped thereon so that it can be properly set for positive cooperation with the check, and can be readily and conveniently replaced when worn.

A still further object of the invention is the provision of a check of this character, which is extremely simple in construction, reliable and efiicient in operation, strong, durable, readily and easily applied to the frame of the loom, and also which may be manufactured at a minimum cost.

With these and other objects in view the invention consists in the features of construction, combination and arrangement of elements, as will be. hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawing, and po" ted out in the claims hereunto appended. j

Referring to the drawing, in detail A, designates a portion of the lay of the 100m, which is of the ordinary well known construction, and B, the guideway for the picker stick 0, of the usual type, while mounted on this lay is the check, hereinafter fully described.

The check comprises a pair of hangers in the form of blocks 5, which are secured without the guideway B, to the frame by means of bolt members 6, or any other suitable fasteners. The blocks 5, are formed with cutaway beveled portions 7, at the points of contact with the lay, so that they will be disposed in convergent relation to each other, while spaced therefrom at the inner sides of said blocks are convexed or rounded surfaces 8, to which are connected outwardly tapered resilient check arms 9, the same being adjustably fastened upon the block 5, through the medium of spaced diagonally disposed bolt members 10, which are passed therethrough and also through the blocks 5, and carry the usual nuts 11, so that by loosening one of the same and tightening the other of each pair the free ends of the said arms will be brought closer together, thereby increasing or decreasing the checking action thereof on the picker stick, which moves between the same.

Upon the picker stick C, is mounted a guard which comprises a wearing block 12, preferably formed from hard wood, the width of which is greater than the width of the picker stick, so'tha't the said block will frictionally engage with the check arms 9, during the movement of the said stick, thereby avoiding the contact of the check arms with the picker stick to assure all wear upon the block 12, which can be readily and quickly replaced with a new one when worn. The block 12, is formed with a notch 13 at its lower end to receive a clip 14, which embraces the reduced portion of the said block and the picker stick C, and through suitable openings in this clip is passed a binding bolt 15, for the secure fastening of the block 12, upon the said stick, and to permit the proper adjustment of the block, as Well as its removal therefrom, when it is desired to place a new one in its stead.
