To all whom t may concern Be it known that I, CHARLES HALLAIRE, a citizen of the United States, residing at Amsterdam, in the county of Montgomery and State of New York, have invented new and useful Improvements in Curtain-Shade Brackets, of which thefollowing is a speer fication.

- This invention relates to improvements in combined shade roller brackets andcurtain supports, and the primary object of the invention is to simplify and improve the existing art by producing a device of this class which shall be longitudinally adjusted to compensate for the various sizes of` shade rollers and curtain poles, and Vwhich will be also of simple construction, cheap to manufacture, strong and durable and thoroughly eiiicient in operation.

A further object of the invention is to provide a longitudinally adjustable shade roller bracket with a removable curtain poleV support and to provide a novel communication between said bracket and support, so the support, when applied to the bracket will be retained against lateral or swinging movement and form a permanent xture with the bracket, but capable of being easily removed when not desired in connection with the shade roller bracket.

With the above recited objects in view, and others which will appear as the nature of the invention is more fully understood, the improvements, reside in a construction, combination and arrangement of parts set forth in the following description and falling within the scope of the appended claims.

In the accompanying drawing, Figure 1 is a perspective view illustrating the device supporting a window shade and curtain pole. Fig. 2 is a detail perspective View of the improvement. Fig. 3 is a transverse sectional view on the line 3-3 of Fig. 2. Fig. 4f is a horizontal sectional view on the line -t of Fig. 3. Fig. 5 is a transverse sectional view on the line 5-5 of Fig. 3. Fig. 6 is a detail sectional view showing a modiication of the manner of securing the base plate to the window frame.

Referring to the drawings, the numerals 1 and 2 designate a pair of elongated base plates, adapted, as shown in Fig. 1, to be positioned at the upper ends on the stiles 3 and 4 of the window frame. Each of these base plates has its opposite ends offset in the direction of the window frame as shown at the adjacent stile of the window frame and are secured thereto by suitable fastening means V7 which extend through openings in the flanges and enter the window frame.

The base plates 1 and 2 are adapted to support a pair of shade roller brackets 8 and 9,y each of which consists of a vertical base portion 10 constructed from a flat piece of material, and a horizontally projecting arm 11 formed integral with one of the vertical pawls of the edge portion, the free end. of the said arm being provided with a concavo-convex disk shaped head 12 which is concentrically provided with an aperture 13 for the reception of one of the trunnions of the shade roller. These brackets are adapted to move longitudinally over the base plates, and, as shown, the upper and lower endsv of each are bent to provide U-shaped .guides 15 which loosely receive the adjacent base plate and form a retaining means for the bracket, and also permit unobstructed movement of the bracket on the plate. Each bracket arm 11 carries a pair of laterally ex-V tending flanges 16 and 17, which are formed integral with the upper and lower longitudinal edges of the said bracket arm, and, as shown, have their free ends extended a slight distance beyond the concaved face of the adjacent head 12 and are provided with registering openings 18 and 19, the said flanges having their terminals bent and extended in opposite directions to provide ears by the registering openings 18 and 19 in the ' flanges 16 and 17 and the horizontal arm 211 is adapted to have one side engage against the head 12 and the opposite side is adapted to engage the adjacent side of the upper ear 20, whereby the horizontal arm will be pre Patented Sept. It will be seen from the above described structure that I have provided a combined shade roller and'curtain pole bracket that mayeasily bek disassociated when it is not desired tofem-ploy the curtain pole bracket, and also when it is desired to employ the curtain pole bracket the same may readily be associated with the shade bracket, and positively held against any lateral movement thereon. e i

In a device of the class described, the combination with a) base plate adapted for attachment to a window frame, a shade bracket adjustably mountedy on the base plate and provided with a head,` and. a pai-r of laterally projecting` lugs arranged one above the other and located in rear of the head and having registering openings, the

free terminals of the lugs being bent in 0p- 'posite directions, a curtain pole bracket int-erposedy between one side of the head and the bent terminal of one of the lugs and having a depending portion extending through the openings in the lugs, as and for the purpose specified.
