Assuming that the bucket 32 is lowered, then the operator by meansofthe levers '9 and 12 first turns the spout 1O to-the positionshown in dotted lines in Fig. 1 and then raises the cut-E 8. extends over the bucket and discharges into the middle thereof. In an apparatus of the character 'described, an overhead track, a bucket shiftable along the track and having a hinged bottom, a spring-actuated latching member mounted on the bucket and holdingthe'bottom closed and projecting beyond the upper end of the bucket, a tripping member mounted upon the track in the path of the upper end of the latching member to release said member and permit the bottom of the bucket to drop, and meansdisposed in the path of the bucket for causing the closing of said bottom, said means comprising a transversely extending rock shaft, angular fingers mounted upon the shaft and having curved extremities, springs acting to permit the shaft to be rotated in one direction to permit passage of the-bucket past the fin" gers and to return the fingers to a vertical position toengage the bottom of the bucket upon its return movement and thereby close the same. 1
