IMPROVEMENT IN MINERS' LAMPS.

Specication forming part of Letters Patent No. 115,143, dated May 23, 1671.

of Hubbard, in the county of Trumbull and State ot' Ohio, have invented a new and useful article oi' manufacture called Miners Lamp;

and I dow hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawing and to the letters Ot refer-en ce marked thereon.

The nature of my new article of manufacture consists `in securing the cap of the ordinary miners lamp 7 to its body through the medium ofscrew-threads in the cap and on the neck of lamp.

To enable others skilled in4 the art to make and use my new article of manufacture, I will proceed to describe its construction.

Figure l represents my new article of manufacture, viz., a miners lamp. Fig. 2 represents the cap of the lamp. Fig. 3 represents a vertical section of the body of the lamp.

The body A is constructedin theusual manner, but its :neck B is provided with screw threads G, which are fitted to screw-threads e inthe cap D. By this arrangementof screwthreads in the cap D and the neck B of the body A the lamp can be filled with oil and then closed, through the medium of cap D, so as to prevent all leakage of oil, which is a very valuable considerationA in a miners lamp.

Having thus described the nature, con struction, and operation of my improvement, what I claim as of my invention is- A new article of manufacture, viz., a miners lamp, provided with a screw-cap, D, constructed, arranged, and operating with relation to the body of the lamp as herein described, and for the-purpose set forth.
