4 APPLICATION FILED JULY 30.1914A mmw Paten-@Mug 24, m5;
INVENTOR a citizen oi the United Sta mops, and

Application lled July 30,
Toall whom it may concern:
Be it known that Il, Geenen l?. Vosnnrnn, es, residing'at Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of illinois, have invented certain new and useful improvements in. Dust-Mops, of
which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to improvements in particularly to mops of that kind designed for` cleaning and polishing lioors and other surfaces, the primary object of the invention being to provide a mop in'whieh the mop material is carried by a' substantially triangularrshaped frame, whereby the mop material, While disposed in compact shape, is arranged to cover a comparatively Wide Working area.
A further object orp the inventionjs to providev a construction 'of triangular "frame in which the end portions of the metal of which the iframe is made are turned inwardly at the base or wider end of the rameand disposed to serve as a means for connecting the mop handle with the trame, so that the Working pull or thrust will be transmitted in a direction parallel with the axis of the frame in manipulating the brush.
A still further object of the invention is to provide an adjustable handle and novel means for mounting the same whereby the handle may be disposed for Working action in a variety of positions and secured in any of its Working positions against casualv displacement.
The invention consists in the features of construction, combination and arrangement.
of parts hereinafter fully described and claimed, reference being had to the accomdrawings, in Which- Figure l is a perspective view of a mop constructed in accordance with my invention; Fig. 2 is a similar 'View "of the parts handle and mop frame separated and ar- I triangularranged in proper 'relative positions; Fig. 3 is a detail view showing the terminals of the mop frame; and Fig. l is a detail section through the pivotal connection between the frame and coupling head.
l'n carrying my inventioninto practice, l provide a mop comprising a substantially or heart-shaped frame l formed preferably of astrip of metal bent into the described shape. rEhe vertex'ol" this frame portion faces forwardly, While the base or 'wider end of the frame is disposed at the specification ci Lettere Patent.

rear of the mop structure, at which end the trame strip l is bent inwardlya The ends are bent inwardly, as indicated at 2, and provided with forwardly-extending terminals 3. @o These terminals 3 project into the space be. tween the sides of the frame and are disposed in parallehrelation and form a space or slot l at the rear of the frame to accom- .modate and permit of certain adjustments an "'i as hereinafter fully deof the mop handle 5,
l is inclosed 'in a cover scribed. The frame or sheath 6 of lto which the mop material 7 is secured in any suitable manner, the fringe of mop ma` terial corresponding to the, frame structure in contour, and being so arranged that the particles of the mop strands are mingled so as to form a broad Working surface or substantially the full 'area of the brush struct@ ture, both longitudinally and transversely.' I The cover or sheathing @may be of canvas, ducking or any other suitable strong and durable material whereby the mop material may be strongly and durably bound together and supported .upon'the frame l.
The handle 5 is'provided at its ,lower end with a threaded stem, 8 to adjustably engage the internally-threaded socket member 9 ofy a T-shaped coupling head 10, the -cross porn@ tion l1 of which forms a sleeve .to receive a bushing tube l2. The said sleeve' 1l and tube l2 are disposed in alinement with openings 13 and le in the terminals 3 or" the frame l, one of which openings is of angua@ lar or non-circular form. A bolt l5 passes through the said openings 13 and 14 in the f terminals 3 and also .through the bushing 12 and pivotally connects the coupling head with the frame l, whereby the handle 5 may te bepadjusted to lie at any desired Working. angle between the vertical and horizontal.
"One end of the bolt is formed with the usual head 16 and an angular projection 17, While the other end ofthe bolt is'threaded, as at 10C '18,to receive a nut 19, which nut is arrange to bear against the terminal 3 having the circular. opening 14:, whereby the bolt will be .held against casual displacement. The headed end 1G of the bolt is arranged to bear 105 against the other terminal 3 and its angular portion 17 ts Within the angular opening 13 therein and enters the angular end 20 of the bore of the bushing 12,by which the bolt and bushing will be held trom rotation, allowing the coupling head 11 to turn upon the bushing.
fabric which serves as a base Y,
as f' lt vi'ill'be evident from the const-rnotio'nl describedv that hy turning the hndle tov lpartially unsorew the stem 8 from the Socket 9- the same Will be moved out of engagement i i' lation at the i'eaicot the frame and terminat- With the bushing l2, whereupon thev handle may be adjusted to the desired jvosition,A and then by turning the handle so as to screw the stem 8 into the coupling head end bring it into impinging engagement with. thel bushing' the handle 'may be locked in adjusted position, :is will be' readily understood. The -v construction'4 described not lonly allows of the convenient adjustment of the handle, and `its retention in adjusted position, but
the arrangement of the terminals 3 permits.
ing in portions which project in parallel and spocedieletion into the space bounded hy the frame, a. coupling element piyoteliy engaging said portions, and e handle provided with e, coupling element adjustnhly engaging the lirst named coupling element Wherehy the handle is vertically adjustable upon vthe freine member and is adapted to be locked rigidly in adjusted position, the seid coupling members being of a relative size to permit of their ifnovexnentf down into the space between the forwardly projecting ends of the freine. member whereby the handle may be turned down to e substantially hori- Zontel position. A
2. A mop including a ironie having inwardly end forwardly turned ends, e bolt connecting saidends of the freine and nonrototohly engaged therewith., a, non-rota table bushing upon the holt, a. T-sheped coupling head having its cross portion pivotel'ly engeging the bushing and its body in# teinelly threaded to form a socket, and e handle having e screw stem adju-stably engagingjseid socket and( adapted to impinge against said bushing.v
