lM PROVE M ENT IN BOOT-JACKS.
The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of the same.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, MILO A. RICHARDSON, of
Sherman, in the county of Chautauqua and State of New York, have invented a new and valuable Improvement in Boot-Jacks; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of' Figure 1. of the drawing is a plan view of my invention. I
Figure 2 is a side elevation of'boot-jack lowered. Figure 3 is a similar view raised. This invention consists in hinging the toe end of a boot-jack to the base-board of a wall in a room, so
that'when the boot-jack is raised up against the wall it will have passed avertical position and will be held upright and out of the way until thrown down for use.
In the accompanying drawing- A represents a boot-jack.

D, lugs projecting horizontally from the base-board E, to'which they are rigidly secured.
. The boot-jack is hung to these lugs by means of pivots, (Z, which will allow it to be raised up and lowcred.
The lugs must be of sulficient length, and placed at such a height from the floor of the room that when the boot-jack is turned up the heel end will rest against the wall at an inclination in which the center of gravity is between the wall and the centers (Z of support.
Should the wall be without a mop-board or skirting the lugs should be made longer than usual when there is such a skirting.
Having described my invention,
I claim- The boot-jack. herein described, consisting of the slotted board A and the projecting pivoted lugs D D for attachment to the wall, and so arranged that when raised the center of gravity of the jack will be between the wall and the pivots d (l, substantially as specified. v
