To all whom it may concern. 1 A 1 Be it known that I, FRANK W. EDWARDS, a citizen of the United States, residing at Logansport, in the county of Cass and State of Indiana, haveinvented a certain new and useful Improvement in Feed Attachments for Lubricators, of which the followlng 1s a full,-clear, and exact description.
The object of this invention 1s to provide simple means for so applying feed arms to lubricators that they will;be held r gidly in position, andmay be readily detached for repair purposes, or, be as readily replaced by a new one in case of irreparable damage, without dismantling or removing or renewing the entire lubricator.
The invention consists of a feed arm separable wholly or partly from the oil bowl and its accessories, by means of easily detached connections, such as a bushing or stay-bolt and a screw-bolt carried by the bushing or stay-bolt and engaging the feed arm and the oil bowl, as I will proceed now to explain and finally claim; 1 c

Fig. 2 is an elevation, on a larger scale, and taken at right angles to Fig. 1, of one of the feed arms and a portion of the oil bowl, the near steam circulating pipe being broken away and the upper feed arm and its connection with the oil bowl being shown in section. Fig. 3 is an elevation, partly in section, and on a still larger scale, of the lower support for the feed arm. Fig. 1 is an elevation of the bolt, and Fig. 5 is a longitudinal sectlon of the bushing or stay-bolt detached, used in this lower support.
The'cond'enser 1, oil bowl2, down-drop sight feed pocket 3, draining valve 1, filling plug 5, valve 6 for controlling the admission of water of condensation into the oil bowl, lug '7 for mounting the oil bowl, boiler con nection 8, cross-coupling 9, steam circulating pipe 10, and oil-distributing nozzle 11, may be as in the patent referred to, or of any form suitable for the lubricator to which the invention is applicable, excepting in so far as the sight feed devices are modified in the present invention.
The sight feed devices may include the feed arm 1-2 to which may be applied the sight feed pocket 3, steam circulating pipe elbow l3, oil-delivery controlling valve 14-, oil feed valve 15, and any other usual or desired parts, and the whole is herein referred to as the feed arm. The upper portion of the feed arm has a short tubular arm 16 which may be screwed into the oil bowl or otherwise connected with it in a "fluidtight but disconnecting manner. The lower portion of the feed arm has a threaded lug 17, andon the oil bowl is a threaded boss 18 with whichthelug is to be alined. An eX- ternally screwthreaded bushing or stay-bolt 19 is threaded in the lug 17 until its'leading end ab uts against the boss 18 on the oil bowl andthereby properly alines the feed arm with the oil bowl, and then the bolt 20 is inserted in the bushing and screwed into the boss 18 to hold the parts in given position.
Toapplv the invention, the feed arm is first applied to the oil bowl by screwing the short arm 16 into the oil bowl, and bringing the lug 17 into alinement with the boss 18; then the bushing or stay-bolt 19 is screwed into the lug 17 until its leading end touches the boss 18 or the feed'arm is properly positioned vertically with respect to the oil bowl and other connections, and then the screw bolt 20 is applied.
Obviously, should the feed arm or any of its parts be damaged or in need of removal, replacement or repair, it can be separated by removing the bolt 20 and bushing 19 and then, if necessary, unscrewing the short arm 16. Or if it be not necessary to entirely remove the feed arm from the oil bowl for the desired purpose, the feed arm may be swung back and forth on the short arm 16 as a 0 pivot, so as to obtain access to the part that needs repair or replacement. In case the feed arm is damaged to an extent which not necessary to remove the whole lubricator in order to repair or replace a part, as would be the case should the feed arm be cast as a solid part of the oil bowl. Not only does the present invention provide for this economical repair of lubricators,'but the feed arm is rigidly supported, and its movement in any direction is prevented, so that leaks and breakages are minimized if not wholly prevented.
The invention is not limited to the use of the short arm 16 as a part of the support, as any convenient means may be used in its place; nor is the invention limited to a screwthreaded connection of the short arm with the oil bowl. r
Of course, the invention is not limited to its application to the particular form of lubricator herein shown; nor iscit limited to the use of a screwthreaded medium for connecting the feed arm through the bushing or stay-bolt with the oil bowl, although the screw-bolt and screwthreaded boss are believed to be the simplest and most efi'icient connecting medium.
What I claim is I 1. In a feed attachment for lubricators, an oil bowl, a feed arm, a screwthreaded lug on said feed arm, an externally screwthreaded bushing or stay-bolt applied to said screwthreaded lug, and means for rigidly connecting said feed arm through said bushing or stay-bolt with the oil bowl and permitting its ready disconnection therefrom.
2. A feed attachment for lubricators, an oil bowl, including a feed arm provided with a screwthreaded lug, an externally screwthreaded bushing or stay-bolt adjustably Copies of this patent may be obtained for mounted in said lug and bearing against the oil bowl, and a screw-bolt arranged in said bushing or stay-bolt and adapted to rigidly engage the oil bowl.
3. The combination with an oil bowl having a screwthreaded boss, of a feed arm and means to detachably secure said feed arm to the oil bowl, said means comprising a screwthreaded lug on the feedarm, a stay-bolt adjustably mounted in said screwthreaded lug, and a screw-boltengaging the stay-bolt and the screwthreaded boss. r
1. The combination with an oil bowl having a screwthreaded boss, a feed arm, means for connecting the feed arm with the upper portion of the oil bowl, and means for separably connecting the lower portion of the feed arm with the oil bowl, said means comprising a screwthreaded lug on the lower portionofthe feed arm, a bushing or staybolt adjustably supported in said screwthreaded lug and adapted'to abut against the boss on the oil bowl, and a screw-bolt passed into the bushing or stay-bolt and engaging the boss on the oil bowl.-
