To all whom it may concern blade holder and more particularly to a device of this character adapted to be used during the stropping of the blade.
The primary object of-the invention is the provision of a device of this character adapted to be used with a blade having an elongated opening therein.
With the foregoing and other objects in view which will appear as the description proceeds, the invention residesin the combination and arrangement of parts and in the details of construction hereinafter described and claimed, it being understood that changes in the precise embodiment of the invention herein disclosed can be made within I the scope of what is claimed without departing from the spirit of the invention. 7
In the drawings: Figure 1 is a top plan view. Fig. 2 is a perspective viewof the holder. 7 on the line AA.of Fig. 2. Fig. 4 is a longitudinal sectional view on the line BB of Fig. 2. Fig. 5 is a detail view of the blade with which the holder is used.
In Fig. 1 of the drawings I have shown my blade holder in connection with a stropping device and this blade holder is formed from a sheet of metal and is bent into the form shown in Fig. 2 so as to form the two spring arm members 1 and 2 and the opening 3 through which a rod passes for securing the holder to the stropping device. The
strip 4 is secured between the members 1 and 2 by means of the rivets 5.
A11 elongated depression 6 is formed in the member 2 so as to form a projection extending toward the other member, and as shown in Fig. 4 of the drawing is adapted to substantially engage the member 1. This holder is adapted to be used with a safety razor blade of the construction shown in Fig. 5 of the drawing and this blade is provided with an elongated opening 7 through which the depressed member 6 is adapted to pass when the blade is inserted between the spring members 1 and 2. The depressed member 6 is of such a size as to snugly fit Specification of Letters Patent.

the opening 7 in the blade. By having a device of this construction it will be seen that the razor blade can be easily inserted into the holder by simply pushing it into the holder which will allow the members 1 and 2 to'spring apart until the depressed member enters theopening 7in the blade.
Briefly considered, the holder herein dis- 1 closed is fashioned from a strip of material bent upon itself to form a shaft receiving socket 3 and to form opposed resilient wings 1 and 2 projecting from the socket, the wing 2 being provided on its inner face ,with. a blade holding pro ection 6 extended toward the wing 1. One or more securing elements5 unite the wings. The strip 4 is located between the wings 1 and 2 and forms a closure for the edge of the socket 3, the securing elements 5 passing through the strip. The strip 4 serves to space the pro jection 6 from'the inner face of the wing 1,
against the action of the securing elements 5, thereby to define a blade receiving throat 50, between the inner face'of the projection 6 and the inner face of the wing 1, as clearly shown in Fig. 2. The strip 4 is not the mechanical equivalent of a structure which embodies an inward dishing of the wings 1 and 2 adjacent the socket 3, for the reason that'the strip 4 may be of any desired thickness, to space the wings 1 and 2 sufficiently to define the throat 50, whereas if the wings 1 and 2 were dished inwardly into contact adjacent the socket 3, no adjustment would be possible in order to define the throat 50 without rebending the wings. Further, it is extremely difficult to bend the wings in the manner above specified, so that the bent portions of the wings will contact with each other and still space the pro 9 shaft-receiving socket and to form opposed I resilient wings projecting from the socket, one wing being provided upon its inner face with a blade-holding projection extended toward the other wing; a securing element uniting the wings; and I a strip through which the securing element passes, the strip being located between the wings and constituting a, closure tor the edge of the socket, In testimony that I claim the foregoing the strip serving to space the projection as my own, I have hereto aflixed my signafrom the inner face of said other Wing ture in the presence of tWo Witnesses.
against the aetion'of the securing element, ALLISON H. FLEMING. 5 thereby to define a blade-receiving throat Witnesses:
between the inner face of the projection and SELINA \VILLsON,
the inner face of said other Wing. I. E. SIMPSON.
