1 The operation of this device is as follows: The handle A is thrown up into the clams l1 and the rod- 11 raised so that the toe stands as seen in Figs. 1 and 3. The extractor then brought into position above the cork K which it is desired to remove, and the point 7) of the toe T forced downward through the cork until the mouth or arms 7 of the bell Dlstrike upon the neck 1 of the bottle, at which time the parts stand as seen in Fig. 1. The lever J is now moved to an oblique position by swinging the handle A out of the claws L to the position shown in Fig. 2.
This causes the link F to turn on the pivot 11 and draw the rod P up 'ard slightly while the contact of the. faces of the jaws m and m simultaneously forces the rod H down avard slightly.

1. In a stopper extractor. the combination with a framework. a pair of rods slidably mounted therethrougln-and means for moving one rod slightly upward and the other rod slightly downward simultaneously and subsequently moving the first-named rod upward further: of a toe pivoted to the lower end of the tirstnamed rod having its lower extremity pointed, and slid-able connections the secondnamed rod.
2. In a stopper extractor, the combination with a framework. a pair of rods slidably mounted therethrough. and means for moving one rod slightly upward and the other rod slightly downward simultaneously and subsequently moving the first-named rod further upward; of a toe pivoted to the.
lower end of the first-named rod and having lts lower extremity pointed and its upper portion provided'with a transverse slot whose length is radial to said pivot. and a transverse pin 011 the lower end of the second-named rod loosely mounted in said slot. whereby the toe is rocked on its pivot by the relative movement .of said rods, for the purpose set forth.

5. Ina stopper extractor. the combination with a pair of rods disposed side by side. a toe pivoted to the lower end of one rod. and a connection between the other rod and toe whereby thelatter is turned on its pivot by the relative movement of .ll(l rods: of a framework including a bell adapted to cmbrace the bottle neck and having an upright hole through which said rods are slidably mounted and a forked standard rising from said bell and having claws at the upper end. of its arms. a lever between said arms and pivoted thereto between its ends. a handle at the upper end of the lever adapted to engage said claws when the lcver is parallel with thearms. a link pivotally connecting the lower end of the lever with the upper end of that rod to which the toe is pivoted.
