SPLIT BELT-PULLEY.
To all whom 'it may concern:
Be it known that I, CARL Siarmn N YBERG,
a subject ofthe King of Sweden, and resident of Hasselb'acken, Mellsa, in the lKingdoin of Sweden, have inyented certain new and useful Improvements in Split Belt-Pulleys, of which the following is a specificabeing made to the accompanying drawing.
The present invention'refers to a split belt pulley which'is chiefly characterized by there being arranged around the parts' a band servin as a. ring,lthe ends of which band are united at the inner side of the ring by means'of bolts or some other suitable device, by the tighten-ing of which not only the' parts of the pulley are kept together, and the pulley is fastened on its shaft but by means of which, also, said band or ring may be curved or made convex in cross section. In the accompanying drawing there is shown a form of construction of a. pulley in accordance with this invention.
Figure 1 shows the pulley seen from the side, and Fig. 2 the same seen in plan. ln order, on the one hand, to easily center the band on the rim, and, on the other hand, to prevent the band from being pushed` to the side or sliding off the rim, there are arranged on the inner side of the band stamped or pressed elevations 7. which in the form of the rim shown in Figs. and are situated at the sides of said rim, and, in the form shown in Fig. 4, enter into a groove or the like, arranged in the rim. These elevations can, if so desired, be in the form of ridges along the length of the band, or can be replaced by projecting pieces or rods fas# tened to the inner side of the band, which pieces or rods can also be employed to Stillen the band if this be necessary.
It can easily be seen that the section o-f the rim of the pulley parts can have other forms than the V-forni shown in Fig. 3, or the T- form shown in Fig. l.
It is clear that the arrangement described above can be employed with pulleys of metal as well as of wood, and that it is independent of the device at the nave, and this, whether there be used at the nave special bolts for the fastening to the sha-ft or not.
