DELIVEBINGPCABINET.
. clare the following to be a full, clear, and
exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to new and useful improvements in delivering cabinets and has for its principal object to provide a device by which the user may easily and quickly determine the amount which should be in the cash drawer. I
Another object of the invention is to provide a single delivering cabinet which will prevent'more than one package being removed at a time.
A further object of the invention is to provide an adjustable indicating strip whereby the amount which should be in the cash drawer may be readily determined Without taking into consideration previous sales.
A. still further object of the invention is to provide a novel means for adjusting the indicating tape and holding the same in its adjusted position.
With these and other objects inview aswill become more apparent as the description proceeds, the invention consists in cer-' tain novel features of construction, combination and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter more fully described 7 and claimed.
For a complete understanding of our. invention, reference is to be had to the following description and accompanying drawin s, in which,
iigure 1 front view in elevation of an indicating cabinet constructed in accordance with this invention. Fig. 2 is a vertical sectional view taken through the center of one of the package containing. chambers, Fig. 3 is an enlarged detail view in elevation-of one of the tape adjusting members, Fig. 4 is an edge view of Fig. 3, and Fig. 5 is a detail fragmentary view illustrating the slot and groove in which the tape runs.
Referring now to the drawin s by charamens of reference, the numeral designates as an entirety the case, which comprises the vertical side walls 2 which are connected by the rear wall 3. A suitable top wall 4 is Specification of Letters Patent. Application filed October 3, i914. Serial No. 864,964.
provided and the front is closed by the door, 4
designated generally by the numeral 5. Thisdoor comprises a frame (5 in which the glass panel 7 is secured, a suitable lock, the key hole of which is designated by the numeral 9 is provided, and this lock is arranged to secure the door in its closed position. A spindle'partition wall 10 is secured between the side walls .2, and. this partition wall extendsbelow the bottom of the door frame, as at 11, and is provided with a suitable strip 12 which extends beyond the lateraledges of the partition 10 to form guide ways on which the contents of the case rest. Suitable cleats 13 are provided, and these cleats are arranged so that their upper edges come in direct horizontal alinement with the which is formed centrally of the groove 15,
which groove is located intermediate the sides of each of the chambers which are formed laterally of partition wall 10. Formed at each end of the slot 14 is the enlarged opening 16 in which the pulleys, which will be more fully hereinafter described are journaled. The rear wall 3 is in set above the rear edges of the side walls 2, and this back wall forms a support for the pulleys hereinbefore mentioned. A suitable cover plate 17 is secured to the rear edges of Patented June 29, 1915.
the walls 2 at their upper end and forms aprotecting cover to prevent the operation of the upper roller from being interfered with. A similar plate 18 is secured in a similar manner and is arranged to protect the lower roller as clearly shown in Fig. 2.
Pivotally secured on the transversely extending bar 19 which is located at the lower forward edge of each of the side walls, is the drawer designated generally by the numeral 20, which drawer comprises the bottom wall 21, front wall 22 and rear wall 23. A suitable cover 24 is secured to the upper edges 1 of the side walls of thedrawer 20, and partially extends over the top of the drawer, and
in its lowered position.
the interior of the drawer when the same is The indicator strip hereinbefore referred to is designated by the numeral 27, and comprises a piece of tape having centered thereon the figures 28 which indicates the amount which will be in the cash drawer. This tape is adjusted by means of the block designated generally by the numeral 29, which block comprises the body 30 having formed thereon the longitudinally extending reduced rib 31 which projects into the slot and forms a guide for the block. A centrally located internally screw threaded aperture is formed within'the block and is arranged to receive the threaded stem 32 of the thumb screw 33 which projects through a centrally located aperture formed in the member 34 of the follower, which is desig- 'nated generally by the numeral 35.
This follower 35 comprises the member 34 hav ing formed thereon the horizontally extending bar 36, the lower edge of which is bent angular-1y as at 37 to engage the uppermost box Within the case.
The strip 27 hereinbefore referred to is arranged to run over the rollers or wheels 38 which are journaled on the axle 39 to permit the tape to be easily moved.
It will be apparent from the foregoing, that in use the follower 35 is first moved upwardly to the top of the case and the boxes containing the articles to be sold are then placed in position within. the case. The followerv is then pressed downwardly until the angular projection 37 engages the uppermost pac age or article, and the thumb screw .33 is then tightened so that the clampingjmember 49 will en' a e the rear. wall of the casing and thus 0 d the case against movement. Upon removing the bottommost package which is designated by the character A, it will be apparent that the box or package which rests thereupon will fall untilit enga es the strip 12 and cleats 13 which will imit the downward movement thereof, and this operation will cause the member directed in the rear of the uppermost package to be exposed, thus indicating the amount which should be in the cash drawer. Afterthe days bills have been accounted for, the user may then unlock the door and release the tape to permit the same to be pressed downwardly against the uppermost package so that a new day may be begun and any accounting for the previous amount is thereby unnecessary.
It will be apparent from the foregoing that a particularly simple and eficient device is provided which may be made to easily account for the amount which should be in the cash drawer regardless of the nulnwines-as:
her of days or periods of time over which the device has been used, and it .will be apparent that the book-keeping system. will thereby be considerably simplified.
While in the foregoing there has been shown and described the preferred embodi-' ment of this invention, it will be understood that such changes may be made in the combination and arrangement of parts as will fall within the spirit and scope of the appended claims.
What is claimed is 1. An indicating'and delivering cabinet, including a' casing, a vertically adjustable indicator tape within the casing, graduations on the tape, and means to-prevent the withdrawal of more than the bottom package from the casingwhen it is in use.
2. An indicating and delivering cabinet, including a casing, a vertically adjustable indicator tape .within the casing, graduations on the tape, means to lock. the tape in adjusted position, and means to prevent the withdrawal of more-than the bottom pack: age from. the casing when it is in use.-
3. An-indicating and delivering cabinet including a casing, a vertically adjustable indicator tape within the casing, graduations on the tape, a follower'on vsaid tape, a thumb screw extending through the follower and tape, a clamp. cooperating with the thumb screw and follower to engage the back bf the casing and lock the tape against movement, and means to prevent the withdrawal of more than the bottom package from the casing when it is in use.
4. An indicating and delivering cabinet including a casing, the back wall of the easing being slotted, a transparent door forming the front wall of the casing, a vertically adjustable indicator tape within-the casing and overlying the slot in the rear wall thereof, graduations on the tape, a follower on the tape,a clamping block'cooperating with the follower, a thumb screw extending through the follower and into the clamping block, said block and follower being on opposite sides In testimony whereof we affix our signa- I 'tures in presence 'of two witnesses, 1
