ATTACHMENT FOR INK-RE CEPTACLES.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, JOHN MICHEL, a citizen of the United States, residing at Bronx, New York, in the county of New York and State of New York, have invented new and useful Improvements in Attachments for Ink-Receptacles, of which the following is a specification.
An object of the invention is to provide a simple attachment for ink receptacles such as the usual ink bottles in which ink is sold, and which constitutes a support for the usual penholder and pen wiper, and also provides suitable connection with the stopper or closure of the receptacle to prevent the stopper from being lost when the ink well is in use.
The invention contemplates, among other features, the provision of an attachment preferably made of wire or some other spring-like material and which can be readily applied to the neck of the ink receptacle to provide a pen holder supporting member and a pen wiper supporting member.
In the further disclosure of the invention reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings, constituting a part of this specification, in which similar characters of reference denote corresponding parts in all the views, and in which:
Figure 1 is a perspective view showing the attachment applied to an ink receptacle; and Fig. 2 is a horizontal sectional view taken through the ink receptacle adjacent the upper edge of the neck and showing the attachment in plan, the stopper or cork being shown in removed position, with the pen wiper and pen holder also removed from the attachment.
Referring more particularly to the views, I disclose an ink receptacle 10 having the usual neck 11 normally closed by a stopper or cork 12.
The attachment consists, more particularly, of a neck-encircling member 13 preferably formed of a single piece of springlike wire or the like, and which member 13 is adapted to encircle the neck 11 as shown, one end of the member being coiled to form a catch 14: adapted to be engaged by the Specification of Letters Patent. member 15, in which is carried a suitable pen wiper 16 which may consist of a sponge or the like. It will be apparent that in view of the spring-like action of the metal from which the member 13 is formed the said member 13 can be applied to the neck of bottles or receptacles of slightly different sizes, and formed adjacent one of the ends of the said member 13 is an eye 17, the said eye being formed by looping the piece of material at the said point. The eye17 has attached thereto a cord 18 which has connection with the stopper 12 so that when the stopper is removed from the receptacle it will not become lost or misplaced.
A pen holder supporting member 19 is supported on the neck-encircling member 13 and preferably consists of a single piece of spring-like material bent to provide a plurality of similar opposed spring-like loops 20, between which the usual pen holder 21 is adapted to be placed so that the loops will grip the pen holder and support the same on the receptacle, as shown.
It will be apparent that with a device of the character described the pen holder will be supported in spaced relation to the desk or table upon which the receptacle stands so that the pen holder, particularly immediately after it has been used, will not mar or the ink thereon stain the table and at the same time the pen holder will be prevented from rolling, as would otherwise occur on a table or desk having an inclined face, when the pen holder is placed upon the inclined face.
From the foregoing description it will be apparent that the device is of a simple con struction, can be cheaply manufactured and can be readily applied to ink receptacles to provide a pen wiper supporting member and suitable connecting means whereby the usual cork for the ink receptacle will be prevented from being lost or misplaced when the porting member formed of a single piece of spring-like wire bent to provide horizontally extending portions forming similar opposed loops at one end and similar opposed loops at the other end, said loops engaging the pen holder to secure the same encircling member, the similar opposed in a horizontal position, with portions of, loopsat each end lying in the same plane. 10
said loops extending transversely aeross the V W In testilnony whereof I affix my signature surface of the pen holder and curved to con in presence of two Witnesses.
form to the curvature of the said surfaee JOHN MICHEL. of the pen holder, the inner end of said pen a Witnesses: V holder supporting member having connec-' BiGKHARD'r,
