lVhile the machine described is adapted more particularly to operate upon a plurality of safety razor blades of any suitable kind, it will be understood that the machine is not limited to this use but can also beI and released therefrom and Vare securely held therein during the sharpening operation. The machine is therefore capable of sharpening a large number of blades in a short time, since very little time is required to change the'blades. The machine can be easily adapted to operate ,on the various standard kinds of safety razor'blades now manufactured and the holder could easily be constructed to hold other cutting edges or knives ifdesired. The reciprocatory motion of the holder facilitates the sharpening of the bladesand greatly lengthens the life of the rolls, since it insures an even' wear sriV over all parts of the rolls and prevents the formation of grooves or ruts around the periphery of the rolls. The gages are also easily operated and enablethe machine t6 be readily adjusted vto operate on" diilerent kinds of blades.4 i J I claim as my invention:

In a machine for sharpening razor and other blades, and having a frame and a pair of parallel sharpening rolls, of -a holder for said blades which extends longitudinally of said rolls above the groove between them, supporting devices for said holder, said supporting devices having vertical slots' in which the ends of said holder are adapted to rest, levers extending across said slots and upon which the ends of said holder are adaptedto rest, and means for adjusting the positions of said levers vertically for adjusting the position of said holder, substantially as set forth.v
